Re: NEW ARTICLE: Insider: Directors pile int... At a price of 134.20 per share this baby is valued around £314m. But its had losses of 57.7m, 98.0m and 128.9m on next to no turnover (7.7m, 3.3m and 2.7m) over the last 3 years. In my books that's extremely speculative.I agree with LK from an earlier thread, not sure what on earth Woodford is playing at putting this in an income fund or even a growth fund! Good luck to the Directors. They're gonna need it.

NEW ARTICLE: Insider: Directors pile into this Woodford stock "LSE:ALM:Allied Minds has had a pretty dire couple of years. And, despite the backing of star fund manager and major shareholder Neil Woodford, the shares collapsed in just one month from early March this year.We reported early April how a $146 ..."[link]

Re: NAV per Jefferies is 195p games,Quite right, how the F do you value start ups. When the price failed to bounce from 168p I fairly swiftly handed them back, just as well as now 147p. Phew.

Re: Why is this UK listed? Games,"This company really has no place in Woodford's Equity Income Fund"Spot on, m8. No divis ... so where the sam heck is the income gonnae come from. If he had a capital growth fund it might originally have been defensible for the crop-headed thug to have put ALM in it ... although the fact that it has gone down like an anchor rather runs counter to the growth schtick. The feller seems to have feet of clay, methinks. He needs to spend a few years learning his trade at the feet of the master ... Terry "Tel" Smith.LKH on the flybridge

Re: price just spiked Closed at a loss of about 12p. 5 of that was spread. Should know better than to play with things like this.

Shotry 19 Apr 2017

Re: price just spiked I'm still in this, probably should have dropped half at a profit when I had the chance, but didn't.Price action trying again to the upside. Seems to be setting up a little area of resistance at 169.5.

Re: NAV per Jefferies is 195p "After such a fall, I would expect some recovery in the price from 168p but WDIK."Actually old_P, you might want to ask what the F does Jefferies know. There is virtually no way on God's Green Earth you can put a net asset value on this fund which has a complex set of high risk, cash consumptive companies hoping one day to make it big. There is no guarantee any of the companies within this fund can offer returns enough to even cover the funds invested, let alone provide a future profit. One for Arthur was at 16:1 in the National --- amongst 40 odd horses, you can calculate the real odds.Games

Re: Why is this UK listed? "Apart from a Loose Regulatory Environment I can see no reason whatsoever why this business is listed in London on AIM?"Possibly because they had difficulty raising the money with low cost in the US?It looks like, if my presumption is true, it is the right choice to have higher costs in the US, given the risks and high level of failure so far within the fund. This is pure venture capital mind, and having had some experience, you can expect most of the investments within this VC to fail. You are relying on one or two to scale big to compensate for the 90% that fail. This company really has no place in Woodford's Equity Income Fund. In any other field of commerce like retail, consumer etc this would be classed as misrepresentation under some sale of goods act or something. This is extremely high risk investment.Games

Why is this UK listed? Apart from a Loose Regulatory Environment I can see no reason whatsoever why this business is listed in London on AIM?Tonnes of VC sources exist in the US for this sort of stuff. ALM is based in Boston and, IMHO, has found a rich seem of Other Peoples Money it can speculate with. Surprised Woodford is involved. The 1330 at Kempton probably has more rational and transparent odds!Tell me why I'm wrong, please!!

NAV per Jefferies is 195p FWIW the Jefferies estimate might mean the fall has gone far enough. Investec, the other large holder, sold some stock on 5th April so at 250p plus I guess to come down to 24/5%and GIC added to take them up to 8 or 9% per RNS. After such a fall, I would expect some recovery in the price from 168p but WDIK.
