LUKE - I am pondering buying back but will wait a little longer before doing so as in my view the SP could go either way in the very short term. No idea what they will be at xmas and would not advise buying to sell for xmas as could come unstuck. Still a very long term prospect share rather than short term punt. I am not a share trader but a buyer and holder of shares in 3-4 companies at a time.
Eamonn - The best I can say to you is that AIB will exist in one form or another in 5+ years and that it's share price will be substantially better than it is today. I want low multiples. If I can but at 8-9 then I only need .8 r .9 for 10% increments. 14-15c for AIB is too high a multiple for me at this time. Others disagree but they may be very short term buyers.
Eamonn - The price you buy at is based on the info available at the time and you hope you buy at the low end. I am waiting for AIB to go down. If they do not then I may have to buy in at a higher value than today. AIB is at it's highest SP for many years. You need to pick a time and price you are happy with and then sit back. The toughest test is when a share is doing well. The temptation to be protective and take profit can be incredibly hard to ignore. I stuck with AIB and BKIR for 27 months before profit taking and am now waiting for both prices to go down to buy back in. I could have made more if I held out until the BKIR results but that it just the way it is. I may have to give back some of the profit and buy back higher than I sold at! Cannot be too greedy or think could have done better. You cannot use hindsight in this game. Be happy with your purchase price and hope it goes your way.
Eamonn - I do not think we will see AIB go as low as 2c but single pennies (5 -9c) is realistic and possibly sooner rather than later.
EAMONN - there is a possibility for large increases in PTSB and AIB SP in the VERY, VERY long term. I think you will get the chance to buy in lower than today but as long as you can afford to say goodbye to your 4k for a very long time then I believe you can see a great return. If you might need any of the 4k in the short to mid term then I personally would not buy in at 14-15c for AIB.
WEXFORD - Thank you for the link to the W Ross radio interview aired earlier today. To paraphrase him he remains keen on the stock and has no immediate plans to sell anymore of the 12% share holding he still retains. More interesting was the statement that DB placed his shares at 32.4 and that today the share is trading higher. - I got out at 29.5 having bought in at 12c. I had believed that the share would be low to mid 20's after the results but may have to buy back at around todays level and hold for some further years.
Eamonn - I personally believe that they cannot stay at the current SP which is insanely high. and that they will at some time in the near future fall if not crach back to single cents. Above a Euro was a different time and different circumstances and not gonna happen again.
Eamonn - I bought in at AIB at 5c in Oct 2011 and got out at 13.5 and 14. I am waiting for that bubble to burst and buy back considerably lower. I cannot believe the price I sold at and where it is now as in my view it is madly over priced.
