Hello all I’m a lurker with obviously POG shares: Yes I clearly remember my nan who lived in the now very trendy Dulwich SE London stocking up with dried milk, tea and sugar in case the ‘bomb’ was dropped somewhere during those ‘Cuban Missile ‘ crisis days , I was ten then and the fear I heard from my working class background family was palpable and in truth last on and off all the way through until the break down of the eastern communist countries. I think the changes the last hundred years have been phenomenal and it has to be said under capitalism much for the better. In the ‘western world’ we now take health, education, potable drinking water and energy totally for granted. Its all interesting and unprecedented stuff really.
