Sorry chaps, but you need to understand quality and integrity. Nano are a class act. Their science came out of Manchester Uni and the people that progressed the science. Passion will always win out....
Contracts are already in place for the supply from Runcorn. This supply is going into LG's TVs. Customer sampling no doubt refers to quality testing from the new plant to make sure the product is the same as that produced in Runcorn. If they are happy the larger, cheaper QD's will go into mass production. Plus there may be new customers interested in buying the significantly cheaper cadmium free Qdots from Dow. I suspect that with the door closing for cadmium Qdots in Europe there may be quite a few wanting to shift over to Dow and Nano.
But quantum materials do not have any customers. Why is that. Nanoco do have customers LG and Marl for certain and perhaps a few others undisclosed. Nano also have products which incorporate their Dots. Quantum materials only claimed about a year ago that they can make cadmium free. Can their dots last the required 50,000 hours of life? Just to prove that will take a few years more. All the US Qdot making crow every few weeks about their success. Nano say very little. This shows confidence to me... Why also is 70% of Nano's recruitment related to scale up chemists. It's because they are scaling up to meet demand. Feeks, you refer to difficulties at Marl .. any evidence to support this?
And a final thought, who are the customers that Nano are presently producing commercial quantities for that will switch to Dow on completion of their factory? It isn't Marl as they are lighting not display. Today's drop came from the misinformed article out of Korea and the fact that Dow are 4 weeks or so late with commissioning imo...
Going back to that etnews they begin by saying 'there are no other products other than Samsung Electronics’ SUHD TV that has Quantum Dot' which is false. You can't take them seriously if they can't get simple facts right. Also Dow is not producing small samples, it isn't producing anything yet as their factory has just been commissioned. Why do you commission a factory if you don't expect to produce anything. It's all nonsense and media driven bollocks imo...
The only company apart from Nano that is producing cadmium free QD's commercially is Samsung. Nano have said they are producing commercially from Runcorn awaiting production to start from Dow. The Dow factory has just been commissioned, which is a pre-production procedure. Commissioning will take 4-6 weeks. I would hope to see production start round Sept, which is a little behind schedule but still in time to supply LG's TV needs for the US market. That english.etnews article is nonsense. No way can LG produce cheap OLED UHD TV's. The global TV market needs to be distinguished from the UHD market which is soaring. Why have most TV manufacturers brought out QD TV's this year. Apart from Samsung, all containing cadmium, which will be banned in the EU and probably China in the next 12-18 months. Plus nano via marl have just released the first QD LED lighting product. The financial markets are unpredictable though and until Nano starts earning cash the share price will continue to be volatile....
Sad the way some will do anything to make a few pounds. It's a short life, try to live it with a bit of integrity. Are we animals or humans. Nano has delivered on its objectives. Dow is on board. The market is there.
