Reason for sharp SP rise? Not that I am complaining, but does anyone know why SP rose nearly 5% yesterday and 4.7% today?
valuation at 5p UEN is worth today 30 cents a barrel as the value of a barrel of oil in the ground depends onthe time taken to get it above ground. UENl's reserves are being depleted at 2.36% ayear; a barrel of UEN is being sold in 29.0 years. If one discounts the receipts at 10%, the present value of UEN's production is about 5% of the well-head value. If onediscounts UENl receipts by 15%, which may not be an excessive allowance for capitalscarcity, the present value is a little under 1%.This explains why there is a huge gain in applying money and know-how to deplete the UENreserves more quickly. One can only hope that UEN will accept that time is money, and that they are better off with a less-than-perfect share of the gains than with holding on to a sterile ownership.THerefore this company will be delisted imo
Re: *Big* ruby find The story is covered in the Times today.
Re: Results More likely correction would be a positive one not negative. A good performing trust does not deserve to be at 15% discount.
Disappointed Good trading statement numerous tips 160 target price all good newsAll of this was said of HN in the last 5 months so what went wrong AGAINJust as it was looking like HN was finally being recognised as a worthwhile bet to investors this happens, theres always something with this company even when conditions are on the up.Ive held these shares for many - many years (most of them poor) and heard all the good news stories before (many times) Im afraid they now fall on deaf ears with me regarding this company and as soon as a bit of improvement takes place Im selling the lot unless anyone can give me some encouragement not to?IMO these shares are fine for a quick in & out in short term and probably now is as good as any to get some bought (not for me though) but if you are looking for long term investment forget it Im very disappointed and the long long wait begins again.
Sexy sleuth Are you in this again?
Re: Tuckman Yes well done onedb, great call. It certainly has been an interesting time over the years and who would have thought it would drop to this value. I guess you did.At least it has given me the chance to add more to my holding and I still believe I will get rewarded at the end.It is a shame that this has not all been tidied up by now and the share price reflects that. It has been a very poor and slow year for progress even though all the news has been enhancing the bottom line of the project.Only thing new going on is that it is slowly edging closer to finishing the DFS but all the time lines are unknown and lots of news is due.Should be good from a trading perspective soon IMO as I believe the DFS should come in Q1 and history might repeat itself.Who knows depending on what path this project follows we could be here for many years ahead!!Best wishes
Re: Huge correction I think the price rise (which has stopped today) was due to COMS being previously oversold., not to any impending news.COMS has had two body blows in the last six months - the accounting disaster which happened in June, when it had to correct overstated results (which rightly knocked confidence in the company) and the increase in losses reported in October.Neither of these were IMO as bad as the market perceived them. The accounting issues did not affect the underlying profitability of the company. Responsible senior directors fell on their swords appropriately. The interim losses were after a large one-off exceptional item - without that the company would have been well into profit. The decline in the share price from the pre-June level (over 50%) was clearly overdone, and has now been at least partly corrected. At this level IMO it is probably a weak buy.
Re: 80 to go in Kcom there was absolutely nothing in the article that said the staff were 'critical staff across the board'. so unless you work for kcom - which i highly doubt - then you also 'know nothing'.kcom is not a growth stock its an income stock. you invest for the divis. EPS was predicted to be flat this year from last year and thats exactly what it is. so im not bothered about the drop and assuming the sp is still around the 85p mark in a few weeks i will probably top up for a nice 6 -7 % div yield.
Re: Court case.... Thanks TBT, I've tried to access file 50 which is the Summary Judgement but no joy. Any chance you could try it and post the link if successful? From the previous link it looks like there's a Motion Hearing December 10th. This is the most likely date for the decision on the SJ as alotting court time is a drawn out process and we're unlikely to get a judgement before hand, but you never know.RoB
Re: RNS out Wow, it's seems to have taken an age for folks to catch onto this news!m
