Re: Deal off?? Marshi,Before any deal was mentioned, the consolidated price was around 10p. So why the setback?Because the ongoing crash in China isnt helping them struggling investors (only today Shanghai dipped another 2%).Take a look at "Huili Resources" in Hongkong and you'll see that they are trading down at 0.95(!) near their 52-week low! Hardly the position to pump fresh money elsewhere:[link] in all you can say that CRND company directors have decided to allow the Chinese investors on board for a substantially discount. Chinese player could be buying below the radar right this minute. Also CRND directors might want to raise money around 8p - and someone spread the word to the new, faithful chinese partners

Re: CGH SP Hi BravonI (without checking back on their statements), think they intimated that it was unlikely that we would see any further pay-outs. I consider that it was all based upon a very big 'IF', and that being that IF they were forced into a situation where they had to sell their share of CGH within 12 months then the (ex)-shareholders would get a share of the proceeds. You can insert your own thought out reason as to why they should do that, one thought then would be that, because it would look like they had pushed out the shareholders and then taken a quick profit ALL for themselves, and said shareholders would have a genuine cause for complaint. In other words to cover their own backs.I still maintain that if their was further value due to the shareholders in one eventuality, then their was value due to the shareholders in any and every eventuality. So I wonder how they can justify your 'big imponderable' or their 'unspoken understandings'? Also who shared the unspoken - to the shareholders - understandings?I do agree with your implication, that current market volatility is only temporary, I think market-makers are using the fear of lower GDP in China to beat investors with fear. I think the fear of anything going wrong in China is greatly overdone. Stability has been, is, and will be maintained regardless of western media ramblings. All IMHO

HFEL TheDrugsDontWork 07 Sep 2015

Not HFEL related Sorry, just thinking out loud. You're the head of the Chinese Central Bank and you have 3.4 trillion of dollar reserves (reasonably short dated Treasuries but you're still exposed to some inflation risk)For whatever reason you want dollars. The easiest and quickest way to get dollars is to sell your treasuries. What is more you want to get your hands on dollars before the Fed instigates easing, which many expect to start in the next month or so. The reason is you don't want to be competing for dollars with the Fed. The Fed will win and will always be able to drain more dollars than you (they have the infrastructure to do so) and worse they will push the price up - these dollars are already expensive remember. So the task is to sell Treasuries and get dollars as quickly as possible, without loosing too much money. Before you start is there any way to increase the price of Treasuries. Well Treasuries tend to rally when there is a crisis... Greece was good for creating a crisis but that's getting boring now. Why not pop the Chinese Equity market - very few Chinese actually have much invested but it get's headlines in Bloomberg..... This post is getting a bit zero hedgey (apologies). Well if that is the plan they have probably managed to only sell 200 billion of their 3.4 trillion. You can calculate this via the movement of the Yuan vis a vis the Dollar. If they want to sell more and don't want to flood the market they need a bigger crisis. Even if the Shanghai drops 50% I don't think it will have quite the fear factor the first 40% drop did (educated guess). Maybe they can sell another 200 billion before people get bored - not enough sold.Well the central bank could cause a melt down in the Chinese housing market which is practically in melt down anyway??? (Unlikely as the Governor has to live in China - won't get invited to another dinner party if he does)Now I'm going full blown zero hedge. Why not get into a bit of a scrap with another country. Not Tibet as that just looks pathetic... Why not send some tanks over the Russian Border. We can apologies to Putin in a few weeks time and sign that oil / gas contract he keeps banging on about. It gives him a photo opportunity riding on tanks topless - he loves that stuff really does.Could alway phone up that nice young man in North Korea. What was that film we went to see with him, how we laughed. (I'd give this a 2% chance of happening but if it did can you please vote this post up )Oh yeah HFEL would be a buy on the dip

Re: 101p I hope you are right, but with only 10% of votes secured to date, 75% still looks a long way away.

Re: CGH SP Hi Phillip. I am guessing that, within the period we are interested in the markets will shake off the current bout of volatility, and that CGH will get back into solid territory. The fact that they are primarily in distribution, rather than primary energy production, should underpin the value. So 'outside that' I think we are still essentially left with the big imponderable, which is what unspoken understandings there were as to how the CVRs would eventually be handled. Best. B.

Interestingly I have a note on my brokers list of Corporate Actions showing a Reverse Split Consolidation but with no event details. No idea what this refers to.
