PNL Carefully Does It 09 Sep 2015

Re: PNL I hold PNL.You can't really tell the value of gold until you need it and then it's too late to buy it. If you need it the lost dividends over the holding period pale into insignificance. As they have held it for a while I guess their average price is somewhat lower than todays? I should really know this but do trust them to run it properly so don't tend to fret about it much. The gold element is purely the last resort in case of melt-down. If the equities and bonds were to fall together it is to gold the money would run. What % should they hold - I'm not sure - but am glad there is some as ballast.I also hold gold outside of PNL as one element of my entire portfolio. Look towards 5% total allocation but don't tend to control the % tightly. It's there, just in case. Hope it's never called upon to bail me out in a collapsing economy.

Re: Positive outlook moving forwards Agreed, I'm in as great business sector great management long term reliable earnings and still plenty of room for growth.

FFX Highlander 09 Sep 2015

Looks like we're starting to rise from the ashes and about time too, such a low SP is totally unjustified. Perhaps the wise are beginning to realise the potential and growth achieved here since the beginning of the year and this is only the start. GLA to all loyal Shareholders who like myself have been in here since day one. I for one have been happy and prepared to wait for at least 2 years to see FFX begin to make it's mark on the market, and I truly believe this is only the beginning and we have a long long way to go yet.

Everyone likes a bit of... Raspberry Pi. Especially now it has a touch screen and brokers are thinking this could improve sales. 7%+ increase in share price today on the back of this which is the best day PF have had in a while.

Investec From ADVFN:"PZ Cussons got a boost after Investec lifted the stock to 'buy' from 'hold', noting weakness in the shares since July."Whilst there remains a risk of further currency headwinds this year, we feel the stock price, at these low levels, is more than discounting a 15-20% devaluation," said Investec. It said PZ Cussons' 2015 results were resilient in the face of a number of challenges ranging from Ebola to slower growth in emerging markets and currency headwinds. It pointed out that management is well versed in navigating the challenges of emerging markets. Currency weakness has been a growth limiting factor and this could continue to influence the outcome for full-year 2016, said Investec. However, it argued that PZ Cussons remains committed to the longer-term opportunities , investing in its branded FMCG portfolio, with a growing emphasis on Food."SP up ~9p today to 303p,nk

Bought today I originaly bought into Iomart at the end of 2013 right at their peak and they went down and I sold with about a 15% lossThey continued to drop until early 2015 when they dropped to about £1.67 and have now recovered well. So going to give them another chance. Including forecasts it has 7 years of double digit growth, good margins and ROCE, and cashflow is well above EPS.Today I bought 3000 shares at £2.64 totalling £7944, 4% of my portfolioWhat I look for when buying a stock4 years of continual growth which can be a combination of historic and forecast growth – YesLow Forecast PER (<16) & PEG (<0.7) and good EPS Growth (>15%) – Yes for 2016 but not for 2017. Re: Mining Thanks NK,Full year results & interims are invariably pre-warned, by all but some fly by night outfits, and, as you have just shown me Fenner are excellent at prewarning us of all scheduled announcements. (Can't think why I had not checked there - I normally check company's financial calendar pages when announcements are due.) However most companies don't seem to bother announcing when the Quarter 1 & 3 or pre-close trading statements, updates are scheduled.

Re: Merger There is clearly a lot of detail that is not currently known, but both companies must believe a merger would reduce their cost base. In fact, both businesses compliment each other, rather than competing with each other. What is happening is that for most of the time Betfair is creating the market and bookmakers offer fractionally below the odds as defined by the market. Punters back the horses and bookmakers unload some of their liability on Betfair. Thus it is a win win situation for both companies. The proposed split seems to favour Betfair as based on the current share price for both companies, Paddy Power shareholders should be getting a higher percentage of the merged company.

Re: 68p per share No.If they can find more oil (at thankfully no cost to ARG) then there may be considerable upside too. Personally I can imagine the share price today could be the yearly dividend in a while.Of course there is considerable risk that all will be lost though.
