Re: Results out Agree. No way its can achieve current yr consensus eps of 5.9p even on a normalised basis. As for stripping out the Italian investment, well that's a normal business expense and is part of its ongoing business, thus a normal expense IMHO

Zinc price The price of zinc remains volatile, dropped from US$1800 to 1625 during September - but recovered to 1650 in the last day or two.No cause for alarm yet for ZOX as they have a very low cost of zinc dust supply... but profits will be reduced until the zinc price recovers.Market confidence is poor, with the media hyping, even promoting stock and commodity market stress. This will no doubt change when some feel the bottom is hit and they want to move bond money into equities ahead of an overdue rise.

Re: BlackRock go above 5% I suspect that the BlackRock shitweasels had 4.9% before yesterday's RNS, that they've taken out the tiny little CFD in order to encourage a bit of optimism in m^ppets like me, and that they have today undertaken some sorta trading shenanigan which has driven the price below a tenner this morning ffs.LKH on the flybridge oh well, at least my stake in Smiths is only small

progress!. RNS on Sep 1; Sep 21st and now today. The key statement for me is the potential to become the "defacto" solution for major law enforcement agencies. More contracts expected. And SP creeping up. I am sure Techinvest will give it further coverage in its next issue due next week end and that will give it further exposure.

BlackRock go above 5% This is surely a mark of confidence in the new feller and in Smiths itself.I DO wish, though, that, when companies declare stakes, they would be forced by the pencilnecks to declare the specifics of their "previous" holdings. We have no idea whether BlackRock have gone from zero to 5% or from 4.99999% to 5%. They just say that they previously had "less than 5%".LKH on the flybridge I mean, how hard can it be?

Re: Topped up Taken the plunge and added this morning on the weak ex dividend price of 102. I think the first hope for a bounce has to be the appointment of a new Chief Exec. Wouldn't be entirely surprised to see it drift lower but have to agree with the comments about value expressed by a number of others here.

Re: Mining The problem at the moment is nobody is interested at buying at this price and few of us want to sell at this level, the result is minuscule volumes.We want something to make the share attractive to buyers and at the moment that might be either producing market rate concentrate or a boosted resource statement. Both are coming but might yet be a bit away.
