Re: Expansion "There is not a market value for "Soul" but the Lygon Arms Hotel in Broadway, for example, is a shadow of its former self since being sold out of family ownership to the Savoy Group."Cash, I stayed at the Lygon about 10 years ago, has it really gone down the pan so much? If so, it's a shame as I rememberd getting trollied on my birthday there, it was great fun.I also love Youngs' beer and I see it a lot now in Bedfordshire were I happen to reside.Charles Wells is the brewer that bought Youngs' brewing business and I'd be chuffed if London Pride was added, but I don't see that happening unless the cost of the brewing in London gets a bit toppy.LK - I agree re the total return aspect and have quite a few stocks that don't pay a divi at all, ebay, PayPal - and Skyworks only has a 1% payout.Games - Oh and a few Glencore - not by design mind (how stupid of me not to have sold, how stupid of me to have bought in the first place he adds).

Re: Expansion This company first came to my notice as a medical student in London and was more than happy to get pleasantly sloshed on its excellent beers. I also enjoyed the same indulgence with Young's. I entirely agree that family ownership is a good thing. I also agree that total return needs to be considered when looking at the dividend. I do not have shares in Young's for practical reasons, but I have always regretted their sale of their Wandsworth site and the removal of brewing to Bedfordshire. They lost their soul by doing so as well as thier key marketing strategy, even though there were sound financial reasons for doing so. There is not a market value for "Soul" but the Lygon Arms Hotel in Broadway, for example, is a shadow of its former self since being sold out of family ownership to the Savoy Group. A good product + sound management = good investment. I have no issues here.

maybe the reasone for the sustained drop was due to the mm' s wanting all those millions of shares and plunging the price to get you too SELL , to fill the order . But they would not do that would they..... yer right ...and next it will be the classic pump and dump to get more privet investers to sell !!!!! or am i being to cynical..... if anybody reads this coments would be good .

ENRT Thomas Tallis 25 Sep 2015

A little longer Yet another week has gone by and still no announcement from ENRT.Still, we have to wait only a little longer for the AGM when, I expect, we shall hear of -what happened to the Chinese deal, what this "transformational" development is,how the Australasian enquiry is progressing,How much they have received in royalty fees (don't forget the million pound plus order)how the potential acquisition is progressing.and two outisders -new licences?action (and cash) from the ARUP collaboration, which was set up in 2007.

results good again Rising turnover and profits, more practices bought and another animal crematorium added. As far as I can see all major metrics are on a sustained positive trajectory.Their new Lumbry Park site is a ''state of the art, major, multi-disciplinary referral centre in Alton, Hampshire. It provides a full range of specialisms, using the most modern equipment including both a CT ("Computerised Tomography" and an MRI ("Magnetic Resonance Imaging" scanner.''Sounds more like an NHS hospital than something for pets! All the detail with pictures of their customers here - [link] unclear what a realistic share price should be here and the momentum could well drive the SP upwards until there are some results 'below expectations'. Im holding for the longer term.SG

Re: Where are the results?? Strange wording. "to verify certain payments made by a subsidiary of the Company to one of its major suppliers, for which goods have been delivered to and received by the Group" seems to imply that an over-payment was made, rather than fraudulent invoicing. It seems what was ordered was delivered, so either it should not have been ordered on behalf of the Company, or their are payment irregularities. We shall see the impact next Wednesday; only another 2 (working) days to wait.It appears the delay and the additional uncertainty has scared a few people today judging by the drop, although the volume was not exactly large.

Re: Offer not attractive Interesting that they were forced to up the offer to 141p by a US Hedge Fund building up a 12.9% stake in the successful expectation of being able to force a higher offer!Very glad I hung on.The offer has now gone completely unconditional so presumable we will get our cash in the next 2 weeks

An up day! After almost 3 weeks, of closing at a new low every day, finally there is a day when the share price rose.

Re: Expansion Games,"The divi is pretty measly on FSTA"I used to set a lot of store by a chunky divi but now all I care about is total return (share price appreciation plus divis). The divi is anyway taxed more heavily (outside a tax wrapper like ISAs or Sipps) than a capital gain, so anyone wanting or needing some spending money can just supplement the meagre divi by selling a few shares every year. So long as the share price keeps rising there is no reason why the value of one's holding should not keep rising even with a few shares sold every year.LKH on the flybridge

HSD sharegardener 25 Sep 2015

Re: Isn't this dirt cheap? Still looking cheap with a high yield but HSD has been considered a dividend trap in the past. They made a pigs ear of the 'charegeable event certification' with HMRC - although they havent had to pay out as much as they thought they would. Also they still have outstanding writs and pending court actions about poor returns on certain funds from around 2008/9 and Hansard Europe was closed to new business at least in part due to this. Their activity in Japan also took a hit last year.It does look like things are starting to pick up again in terms of international new business and they have 'refreshed' sales teams and admin structures.Presentation is here [link] Polonsky still holds a major chunk of the shares, so free float is relatively low - this will tend to exaggerate price swings.Looks like the institutional buyers are out today with 2M shares traded (2x 500K and one trade of 1M).Im still holding at a loss and hoping for rising divi and some SP recovery but Im not tempted to buy any more unless clearer signs of sustained improvement.Good luck allSG

Re: Expansion "Anyhoo, I think that this is a great company. I do like family companies ... they can think for the long term." Certainly puts a decent slant on it with the numbers you suggest. What we need now is some huge negative story on pubs to get an entry point (he howls selfishly), appreciating that wouldn't necessarily be to your liking (although you could add more). The divi is pretty measly on FSTA and it's risen a huge amount in 5 years.Games -- still no point looking over the shoulder as they say.

Re: Waiting If you choose not to accept, that's OKAY you could be left as a minority shareholder entirely dependent on the purchaser. You would still own the shares but the purchaser could leave you in a situation where you are locked in with no need to buy you out as your voting power is zilch.Take the money now or on the last day otherwise you will be left with worthless holdings for which there is no market.
