Re: Uncomfortable Post: A,O.W. Resoundingly Yes ! Do you think it possible in view of the way these matters have unfolded theres any recourse for us private investors to take. I would be more than happy to persue a course of action, if one were possible, to bring this miserable Bod to account.

I find it useful to investigate the "backyard" of any entrepreneur remembering an uber-famous player from Western Australia in the 80's. There is so often a tendency to soil the local market and then to tackle the national scene and then international stage, moving fast enough so that the realities don't catch up with them. It works for awhile (sadly with plenty of collateral damage along the way) but they always come a cropper, eventually. Interestingly they frequently arise again to do the same ol' same ol' to another batch of enthusiastic investors. Sound like some one you know?

Re: Volkswagen In answer to your question, B&H, they should be a beneficiary if outside testing is to be adopted and they're not a VW emissions testing supplier - YET!Good article on the prospects here for RCDO in todays issue of Shares Mag (two page spread) where they reckon that Ricardo should be a beneficiary from the scandal, in the EU, US and China, too, with a bit of luck....Worth gettiing a copy (pages 36 & 37) or reading the article online if you can. I've had this on my watch list for a while but, given the possibilities seemingly afforded now, I've got on with buying some shs today just in case it really moves.....sasa.

Crispr Bad news for Horizon and others who have paid for licenses for the CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing technology! [link] seems there are other proteins other than Cas9 that can do the same job only better. Implications: i) There are going to be many gene editing proteins out there, so companies such as Horizon won't have to pay so much for licences, ii) the winner of the race to cash in on gene editing services will not just be limited to those with the most money who can afford the licenses, it will be about who is best at marketing and who can enable their customers to get their gene editing done in the most efficient way. The new technology should fit with Horizon's current approach of offering a portfolio of gene editing technologies. Having Fang Zheng (who found the new gene editing protein) on the advisory board must also help. On the marketing side, they are up against some big players like Origene and ThermoFisher. They will have less to invest in pushing Cripsr but also should be able to have more laser-like focus on it than their larger rivals.

Re: sale The sale was 12% above book value, which is €2.6m or £1.9m or 7p per share. The share price increase is double this - representing the extra confidence from selling a major property. The sale gives a cash boost of £17.6m. The existing cash held is unclear but is probably about £4m after tax liabilities, so a total of around £21.6m or about 80p per share.I reckon that the NAV is somewhere around 166p. This is the same as quoted earlier - so it seems the fall in the Euro has cancelled out the gain from the sale. I still think this is a good buy, but as it is already my biggest holding I won't be adding any more.

Re: Who needs a Chinese fraud.... Fair point. But I see nothing to be bullish about. WD have been going for over 10 years and have sold next to nothing. The multi trillion $ market they claim to service either doesn't exist or what they have isn't fit for purpose. Either way, the company has destroyed investor confidence so flagrantly that I'll be amazed if they can raise the funds they need without management getting booted or a significant slashing of costs.
