SAGA highsnlows 03 Oct 2015

New vessel for SAGA Cruises Saga Cruises has ordered an all-balcony ship that will be available to holidaymakers from 2019, to accommodate demand on the holiday company's popular sailings. The new vessel will carry fewer than 1,000 passengers in around 540 suites and cabins, each with a balcony. Around 15 per cent of cabins will be designed for single occupancy and leisure facilities will include outdoor and indoor swimming pools, a spa, saunas, treatment rooms and beauty salon. Saga Cruises currently only operates two ships, the 446-passenger Saga Pearl II and the 706-passenger Saga Sapphire, both of which are set for an eventual phase out. Demand for sailings on the ships is extremely high: they carried around 25,000 passengers last year, with a 75 per cent repeat passenger rate. The new ship is significant as sailings on the two existing vessels sell out far in advance, suggesting that demand from cruisers outstrips what Saga can currently offer. The 55,900 grt vessel that will come into service in 2019 will be built by Meyer Werft in Germany. The shipyard recently put the finishing touches to Norwegian Cruise Line's soon-to-launch Norwegian Escape and is building Royal Caribbean's Ovation of the Seas. A second new vessel may also enter service by 2021. Robin Shaw, chief executive of the cruising division, said that, "There is no expectation that customers will pay more" as a result of the new ships. Lance Batchelor, Saga chief executive officer, added that cruising remains, "at the heart of the Saga brand". Feedback from passenger forums indicated that passengers are keen to maintain the friendly, "one ship for everybody" ethos that Saga is known for. Dining can be accommodated in a single sitting and there will be no exclusive areas on board, or restaurants that charge supplements. Research commissioned by Saga into travel buying patterns of the 50-plus age group found that spending on cruising is expected to increase by 43 per cent to £2.2 billion by 2020. This compares with £1.65 bn in 2014 of £41 bn on travel and tourism as a whole. Nearly a third (32 per cent) of the over-50s in employment said they were planning to increase their spending on cruises post retirement. The Saga Pearl II and the Saga Sapphire will visit 14 new ports between them in 2016, including Holy Loch, Scotland; Boulogne-sur-Mer in France; Pyramiden in the Svalbard archipelago; San Remo in Italy and Southwold in Suffolk. Re: Uncomfortable Post: I think i can safely say this is where we are going. Absolutely no doubt about it. I hope AOW is wrong but his previous history proves otherwise.I just hope that gold shoots up to recover the price we get when they do us over. Bad times when you think banks are safer to invest your money in rather than AIM.Thanks for your informative posts AOW.LM

Yes, shadowcity, everyone tends to see samsung as a negative, but I think the opposite. Without them the EU Parliament couldn't have voted against extending the exemption on cadmium; as market leaders they have made a clear statement that only cad free is the futures; their Qdot TV's are selling like hot cakes taking market share from LG and the rest; their next generation Qdot TV's to be launched at CES in Jan. LG have to catch up as affordable OLED is still years away. Qdots will spearhead the UHD drive to the mass market and samsung will require larger and cheaper supply of Qdots. Can Dow produce more and more cheaply than Hansol .. Anyway, it all rests on that factory coming on stream soon. I'm hoping the results will coincide with good news out of korea.

PAY gamesinvestor 03 Oct 2015

Sold Decided to sell Paypoint on Friday.Having bought in early June I've made a small capital gain and collected a nice dividend, however, I'm becoming increasingly concerned with how fast the world of payments is developing and the sheer number of systems now on offer.I'm also an investor in PayPal which has world presence.I might be wrong on this decision, but with the eventual move to a cashless society and so many mobile and online payment options in the making I don't see a strong future for PayPoint. The collection and drop off parcel system is interesting, however, this can be handled by the Post Office or via many other store options like Argos etc, so it's heavily competitive. ATM's could come under more pressure as people surely will not want to pay a fee to get access to their cash. The other area that would be a concern is the payment of utilities. For those that don't have a bank account yes there is still a market, but I imagine this part of the market will diminish in time and with remote metering installed at most homes, payments will be largely fully automated. Please comment if you think the above is not the case, or there are other strong arguments for PayPoint.Games

Re: Production It's true that the private micro shareholders are at the bottom of the list. Most of the recent promotion has been to the institutions and HNWindividuals. I guess that those new buyers will be mopping up any shares the micro shareholders let loose. The 500k buyer has now taken 4 chunks over the week but is careful not to push the price up. Tells me that they are after more.Production is at or very close to 5 mtpa throughput now but the company say that they will announce production normalisation rather than full commercial production. That will be December or January after 3 months at or above tag. The copper in concentrate is stockpiling now onsite and commercial transportation and sale will start very soon. Trial batches have been trucked to the smelter already. Yes there are lots of people onsite and much of the site can be seen from the road. My last site visit got me two contacts one of which is working onsite now.I remain a buyer.
