LAD, Bets UP......... Ladbrokes makes progress on recovery plan 087 22 Oct 2015There was a 17.5% rise in the number of bets staked so far this seasonLadbrokes makes progress on recovery planThe digital business grew, with revenue up 6.4% overallLadbrokes (LON:LAD) profits more than halved in its latest quarter but the bookmaker claimed progress was made on its recovery plan. (world cup last year)Several high-profile football results went in Ladbrokes favour, chief executive Jim Mullen said, offsetting unfavourable horse racing outcomes. There was a 17.5% rise in the number of bets staked so far this season compared to last year.Even so, a poor quarter had been flagged by the bookie with its interims in August and underlying profits [EBITDA] for the three months to September dropped 57% to £14.3mln.Increased machine gaming duty and point of consumption tax as well as an increase in marketing costs were blamed for the drop.An unusually strong third quarter in 2014, due to favourable results in the Fifa World Cup, also skewed comparisons.Revenues were down 0.7% in the quarter but, with the benefit of the tournament removed, rose 2%.The digital business grew, with revenue up 6.4% overall and 10.5% excluding the World Cup anomaly. An 11.5% rise in gaming growth and a 26.3% hike in the Australian business drove the gain in digital revenue.Mullen said: It is early in our journey, but today's results reflect positive initial progress and customer traction with continued increases in staking and actives across digital and improved staking trends in UK Retail driven by football and racing.Ladbrokes is merging with Gala Coral but there was no further news the tie-up with both companies engaged with the Competition and Markets Authority.Share Jonathan Jones

TRT target price Finncap has had a TP of 3.50p on the Co since end of June...Maybe people are slowly waking up to the potential?
anaysis of trading statement well think it is a mini profit warning which is disappointing,SIG also had a trading update this morning and talked of a slower than expected UK construction market.ALU have had a great rise, but the environmental angle is only a relative protection to the UK construction market,so to me seems valued that growth in what could be a stalling market. All IMHO, DYOR + BoLALU is no longer in my portfolio
SPECIAL MEETING Am I being dim.OMI announce the AGM and Special Meeting without stating what the Special Metting is to discuss.Any one have a clue or do I contact the company ?
Re: CULS buy back Presume the reason is that they are paying less now than they will have to pay in 2018 and also saving on interest. Not sure how it is being financed, but in view of the purchase size, probably out of income. Also paying quarterly dividends, which are welcome, though the Current SP means still well under water on this holding!
Ex Dividend today Pay out of £1.45 on Nov. 12th.
