Re: Exane BNP Paribas "We concede that it will take the group much longer to see the benefits of the hoped-for cyclical and structural turnaround"In other words, the current business model has collapsed and the new on-line one has not yet happened, and if and when it does it will be an unlikely revenue match to the old one. This is happening to all industries and it's just taken a little longer for the education sphere to experience it.Games

Re: Answers to questions Yes I think that the Betfair/Paddy Power combination has a bright future as the merged company will have the best exchange platform and the best marketing skills in the industry. In contrast I can't get excited by the merger of Coral and Ladbrokes as merging two relatively unsuccessful companies will not make a successful one but I don't know whether it would be worth shorting Ladbrokes as there will be some cost savings if the merger goes through. In answer to your query, I'm afraid my safe betting strategy, although worthwhile, is not revolutionary as it just requires a disciplined approach to the many promotions available each week on online bookmaker sites.

Re: Spread The spread is the best it has been in over 2 years and share price to match, this share was at 160 and above when market sentiment and fear of litigation in Norway raised its head and the threat of a cut in dividend, lowered the profile selling it down to 83 pence at one point, none of it really materialised to any great extent but it has languished at 100p for a duration, with few buyers really looking at future prospect or past value, i personally bought at 1.20 on the fall 2 years ago, but dividend has remained consistently good value. unless it has changed in management it is ruled by an octogenarian and a couple of aged sidekicks, may i say thank god for experience and wisdom DYOR

Re: Not possible to buy or sell on iii? I'm afraid to say III were worse that useless hereI rang up like i mentioned below and had a trade confirmed as sold after spending half an hour on the phone to them. This after trying to sell for months. A few weeks later i checked my holdings and they hadn't updated. They then did an internal investigation and found that it was all their fault and they had screwed up and gave me a whole massive £20 to say sorry. Since then i've had to transfer my holdings, which takes weeks - in which time the share price has now halved. Cheers III

Exane BNP Paribas From ADVFN:"Exane BNP Paribas downgraded Pearson to ''neutral' from 'outperform' and cut the price target to 1,000p.The bank said its investment case on Pearson was predicated on three main ideas. It argued that cyclical headwinds, especially in US Higher Education, would abate from 2015 onwards and reckoned the transformation of the group towards digital and emerging markets would further help accelerate top line growth while operating efficiency gains would drive margin expansion."We were wrong," said Exane."We concede that it will take the group much longer to see the benefits of the hoped-for cyclical and structural turnaround. We also believe that capital allocation issues are likely to further put pressure on the shares in the near term. We do not see significant upside in the share in the short - term."
