Liberum analyst Joe Brent retained his ‘hold’ recommendation and target price of 286p on the shares, commenting: ‘Interim results a little weaker than we had expected due to healthcare (down 20% due to branch closures), but no exceptionals,’ he said. ‘Estimates left unchanged, despite H1 loss in healthcare. More support for Solid State Two new positive analyst reports on Solid State, one from W H Ireland and the other a paid for one from Edison. I generally try to avoid extreme language when I am commenting on companies so I don't entirely agree with analyst Eric Burns at WH Ireland who describes the extent of Sold State's recent share price fall as "slightly absurd" but I think I can understand why he says this as there does not seem to be much wrong with the business. It is also becoming apparent that the delay in the Ministry of Justice order was not Solid State's fault and it looks likely to me that the order will be delayed rather than lost. However, it will probably be quite a while before we can be sure when Solid State is going to resume significant growth but in the meantime the diversity of its business is helping steady the ship. I am certainly happy to continue to hold the shares.
