Should we be getting out? Saw the S&G stuff, but not clear what impact, if any, it has on QPP holders. Can't buy S&G as they are registered in Australia? An appeal to wiser heads out there.Never caught a share like QPP right at the trough point before - don't want to blow it!Small beer to you lot no doubt, but it is earmarked to pay for a family Xmas Blow-out for my lot.

Re: Andrew Woollett In the past AW has done a good job promoting Zincox through interviews and presentation with none other than Proactive Investors. All Pr. In. does is to tempt mugs to attend company presentations at their Mayfair hotel with canapes and a couple of glasses of wine for a nice fat fee ofcourse. The qualities of companies who want to be associated with PI has always been questionable, ones that are likely to lose you your shirt.

BoD refusing to count vote [link] Because he's lost, Jaime Pinto, who is chairing the EGM currently taking place in Toronto, is refusing to count the votes. He's appealing to a ridiculous and petty technicality that has no basis whatsoever. Like a little spoiled brat kid."

Re: announcement Yes you are correct Ambiorix1 SPH will get picked up how long will it take though. I have got to say that the directors have done well with the off load deal IMHO.

Rip off I put £830 into this in 2007!!After two consolidations my holding is now worth £69.Total mismanagement between then and now, so as a final insult they sell us out for peanuts.I'm voting against FWIW. And I would urge others to do so. This is at long last looking like a decent company. Why on Earth sell it now ??TP

Re: Andrew Woollett I know I sound like a stuck record on this subject but the board need a kicking from shareholders on this issue for not sorting it out earlier, at current mkt cap of £2.5m it is ridiculous to continue paying 2 individuals over $400k each per annum, this has to be addressed NOW if they haven't done so already and the more of us who scream about it the better. AW should do the decent thing and volunteer a cut to £75k per year. No large investor should countenance investing in a company with such greedy directors.

Re: Slater and Gordon [link] announcement today.1. It is not law yet, so there is a lead time.2. According to Legalese on the other one, it should not impact earnings in 2016, He goes on to say that "But circa 80% of ( QPP PSD) claims are sub £25K, and the majority of sub 25k claims are sub £5k." ,,,,,,,,that implies that the effect of Osborne changes will be material and significant. However how many of these claims are soft tissue? Will it not be better for SG to focus on larger cases anyway? SGH's prompt announcement does say "if any" impact from 2017 . In due course they should make another announcement. My take on that is that with SGH market cap at £162 M it looks materially undervalued ,Mel .

Re: Andrew Woollett I think they have done a terrible job getting the plant running. All the problems they had with the heat exchanger and brickett maker which just seemed to run and run. Over the past few years they have done placings around November so I'm not too surprised .Put this one down to experience.... Aim company with a new technology in the commodities sector= disaster!

Re: Copper piping? Lead solder was phased out 30+ years ago, now Tin Antimony (95/5%) or Tin/Copper/Silver (95.5/4/0.5% ish). The latter is easier to used but more expensive. Flux is based on zinc chloride which is pretty caustic to remove copper oxide and make a good joint- you want to flush it after soldering but not particularly toxic- the fumes however are - so don't get too close whilst soldering and as always when soldering don't overheat cause more fumes and your solder runs out (have tried that. Also don't get flux on your skin- it will burn. That said there is probably plenty of the old lead solder floating around and the less scrupulous cowboy might use it. It didn't do a lot for Roman civilization, allegedly.Silver solder - I think is actually brazing (higher temp) not really solder- I remember silver soldering a screwdriver blade into a handle in metalwork 40 odd years ago (under supervision), I think I've still got it somewhere so it must be good stuff, but don't recommend using it on copper pipes.
