ARTL mark20690 28 Nov 2015

Half-yearly report Report in line with my expectations. The value of the H20 investment (Madrid shopping centre) has risen 40%, and now accounts for 24% of NAV. Rents at H20 do not seem to have risen substantially at this point, but I expect they will in the near future, also given that rents are partly linked to tenants' turnover. The latter are on the rise, supported by the current macroeconomic picture in Spain. Revenue profit is now about 6p per share, corresponding to a p/e of just below 14. This means the company earns enough from operations to keep the dividend rising. I expect a dividend rise of 10 to 20% next spring. This will contribute to reducing the share price's discount to NAV which is still more than 30%. ARTL now trades at a multi-year high but I expect it to go further. Catalysts will be the possible realisation of the Indian investment, rising rental income from the Spanish shopping centre (which is still highly geared even after the recent steep appreciation) and further deployment of ARTL's cash pile. Capital risk is receding as the LTV ratio of all of ARTL's investments is decreasing, and in the meantime it is being paid high rates of interest for its loans.

Re: Future Share price I agree with Charlie. It does look fully valued, but there is no reason to suspect the company will do anything but continue to grow its business slowly and profitably; and of course with small companies in profitable niche areas, there is always a strong potential for takeovers. Another you might consider - also small UK Biotech PROFITABLE business in a niche area, and limited competition because of barriers to entry is Anpario - ANP. I also like them because for a small AIM business they have a large institutional share-holding.

Re: Legal & General acquired An institution like legal n general don't invest in an ipo without doing their research and £2.50 at that time seemed an attractive price and expected to make a healthy profit at that entry point. It's AIM and the delays and bureaucracy surrounding this project have taken a heavy toll . Management threatened to wrap project up and return funds to shareholders at one point if things weren't resolved and moved forward. However, great progress is bein made at last IMHO as reported last rns, latest satellite images show island now finished and fleet of lorries on Island previously re reclamation have left. Predicted first cargoes 6 to 9 months time. This venture may well be used as a template for Modi's new business growth focused India IMHO and perhaps £4 per share will look very cheap in 3 to 5 years time IMHO. Think £1 in next 3/4 months is a realistic target IMHO and get back towards ipo level once first cargo processed.Seagull

Re: gloomy outlook I thought the RNS was a masterpiece of obfuscation. Of course 2015 looks OK, I'm pleased everybody is turning up for work and it's nice that all the unwanted rigs are stacked outside. But the industry they work in is in meltdown. Short term will the rigs they are completing be paid for? Extending options is a valueless exercise if the buyer can pick up yard resales at half price from the rigs stacked outside. Lamprell is a good enough Company in a bad place. PS I no longer have any position in these shares.

Re: Your dividend is in danger This business has undoubtedly under performed. Arguably that's why the share price is what it is. Fact is, the dividend should be cut....such an action would reassure shareholders, a new cost reduction strategy is necessary and new blood to run the show and to come up with a plan. Where is private equity or a trade buyer when you need them? I will continue to hold.....
