MONI Orchard Gate 03 Dec 2015

Re: dont.. I don't have questions because I largely agree with you and said some time ago that I didn't see Moni having a future as an independent company and perhaps no future at all. I bought shares a while back on the digital payments sector story (which still holds) but sold (at a 50% profit at 56p) because I'd come to realise the technology was weak, the management team were weak and not to be trusted and the company had become a share issuance machine to the detriment of existing holders.I'm clearly not as close to the detail as you but I have spoken to a guy who ran one of the world's largest payments business and whose group is a customer of Moni, to the guy at Visa who helped managed the relationship with Moni and to someone at another bank who works with Moni and none of them thought Monitise would survive long term.

I recall a few months ago a hedge fund, tosca perhaps went in a joint venture on akazoo. They would have done their due diligence in my opinion.

Valuation This now on a very high PE ratio - app 40x I think. That's pricing in a lot of growth - excellent company that it is. Can anyone work out the PEG ratio?

Re: chart To me the chart to-day looks like a 'falling knife'. The SP is certainly volatile, sop there's numbers of sellers out there as well as buyers. I'm on the sidelines at the moment but like the company.

Good long term investment See recent FT Lex column. Price has suffered due to big withdrawals from their Asian funds but this is counterbalanced by their fixed interest SWIP investments so that profit has not fallen significantly. Emerging markets will recover eventually. Profitable company, current yield >6%.

my take on the AGM Filtronic AGM 27/11/15My take on events! The retiring Chairman-Mr Ford said that he was leaving the company “in good shape for the future”. He and all the other Board members are taking up their rights in the latest fundraising as is Aberforth who hold 19%. Encouraging? I had the opportunity to speak to the Auditor –KPMG-before proceedings and asked if they were confident that the company was not in a terminal sate and he assured me they had the funds to continue for a minimum of the next 12 months. That was before the further fundraising available to existing shareholders announced this week so I found that re-assuring. I was disappointed that the rights issue was at 5p when it was trading at 9p before the announcement and the rights issue had been well documented prior to taking place. Had this not proceeded even at this price the company would no doubt have gone into administration. In the wider environment smartphones are still expanding rapidly so the 52K masts in the UK and the masts in the US will all need upgrading to cope. California alone has nearly 50K masts. The antennae facilitate that. Secondly the video market on mobile is growing exponentially and so the E-band transceiver modules are needed to cope with the mobile telecommunications backhaul market. It is interesting to note that smartphones need a stronger signal for phone calls than the old phones.(DT today)Wireless. The focus is on the ultra wide band integrated antennae which can handle new and legacy signals This is particularly important in Europe and the US. The product is as important to the OEM as it is to Filtronic. The roll out of 4G and the increasing demands to reduce running costs, in conjunction with the increasing demand for data hungry mobile internet apps, especially video based traffic requires the operators to install greater capacity . moving more RF management to the antenna there will be improved signal handling; lower power usage and reduced wind loading on towers. Installation costs are cheaper as they require fewer “tower climbs” to install integrated antennae. The enthusiasm for this product is reflected in that the OEM funded the tooling process-$265k; and are now funding the pre-production pilot process of $465K. It is all about the orders and the speed in making the transition on the mastsBroadband. The latest generation E-band module Orpheus has class leading performance. They have also won a contract with Selex to supply transceivers for a satellite communications project. No details were supplied. As a result they are broadening their customer base beyond telecoms and making a strategic push into the defence/aerospace marketsIn light of the rights issue and repeated profit warnings over the last year optimism is at a low ebb. Is that an opportunity? In January 2015 when the SP was a lot higher Paul Scott stated he would rather wait for a +ve trading statement and pay a bit more! That was a good strategy as events have proved. I have a core holding in Filtronic and from now on will follow Paul’s suggestion!3/12/15

PDL Andy Reilly 03 Dec 2015

Re: Recent positive news... wl - the little thumb nail chart below shows just how much confidence has been sapped in PDL since the 2014 Summer peak. As yet, despite the reasonable bounce since late Nov, the chart needs to show a trend reversal before its safe to assume the recovery has started. The resources sector has taken such a beating that it is clear that it will take a good while before it can attract investors back. Just look at how long gold had been in steady decline, despite the regular claims it ready to recover over the years, and it still probably hasnt formed a convincing bottom.Sentiment alway runs too far in whatever direction, and trying to second guess PDL or the sector is a risky old business. TA isnt fool proof, but its probably the best tool available to base any judgement on. So far Shotry has done a rather better job than me when it comes to PDL, but I still watch reasonably closely.Best of luck -

Re: drop Thanks for the info I read some of it but my main interest is in the yield so I will hold for now, in the hope that it stays near the present level.

Oryx I see that Chris Mills has bought a 4% stake through Oryx. I've got a lot of time for him, he's very shrewd so it's good to see he sees value here at the current price.

Re: Publicity stunt? We are back to where we were prior to this rns. Was just offered 0.1025pence for 1,000,000 of my shares. Not looking at selling for anywhere near this level, just tickles me to see 0.08 pence on the sell on ADVFN Live Trading!!Good luck to all those who have bought on the dip. Would like to see a firm reply from Atlantic Coal

Suspension Imminent This surely has to be suspended. The board say they are going to look into it just like globo did. Then it came out and the rest is history
