Brexit Wars 3 Owen Jones has made the same point in an article in The Guardian. I suspect that QT is simply attempting to keep up its ratings by picking nutjobs to ask questions. A competent panel should be capable of slapping them down. The woman ended up looking a proper berk. There is a democratic difficulty in that just because we don’t like some views should we censor them. Of course we have to protect those who would be seriously offended and the BBC like all media outlets has a duty to ensure that the comments they broadcast do not offend against the Equalities Act. Brexit Wars 3 JD - good morning jackdawsson: "Dimbleby during the broadcast: ‘The BBC is under threat in a way it has never been before. The pernicious route they are using is to say the licence fee is wrong or unfair. ‘I don’t actually believe it is wrong or unfair. It is a way of damaging and undermining the BBC that is dangerous and should be resisted.’ Obviously he has no interest in (or connection with - now!) the BBC Isn’t he the guy who was 'trousering ’ over £400,000 a year from the BBC an organisation that is intent on continuing to hound non-payers through the courts - and fighting to cling on to it’s privileged broadcasting position? The ‘heavies’ will soon have a new group to intimidate and hassle (those over 75) many who are vulnerable and their radio / television is their only contact with the outside world. Some people might say the BBC is full of overpaid, left-wing, out of touch, urban intellectual elitists. I couldn’t possibly disagree! JAR PS - Is that long enough for you pete?

Brexit Wars 3 BBC I dont think the BBC is that biased and as said before they are attacked from both sides so that says something. However something serious wrong with Question Time. Picking RW extremists for the audience who are then picked to ask a question which is just a racist rant over and over again is corrupt. They need to quickly find out who is selecting these nuts and what groups and politicians are in cahoots with them…

Brexit Wars 3 Eadwig: He’s frightened he’ll be interviewed and everyone will see that he doesn’t actually give a shit. A ‘submarine policy’ approach on this one, I heard it described as today. Hi Eadwig, Indeed, that’s how it seems. We increasingly see parallels with Trump’s approach of showing arrant disdain for all those who either seriously question or disagree with his brand of politics. Hence this government’s similar avoidance of closer scrutiny or accountability, just in case too many falsehoods are exposed. I think many Britons of various political persuasions who believe in democratic accountability may be increasingly concerned by some of he early signs, as they should be. I thought David Dimbleby put it well in a recent interview. Some of it relates to the future of the BBC, but there are also valid wider observations. - Regards. "Dimbleby during the broadcast: ‘The BBC is under threat in a way it has never been before. The pernicious route they are using is to say the licence fee is wrong or unfair. ‘I don’t actually believe it is wrong or unfair. It is a way of damaging and undermining the BBC that is dangerous and should be resisted.’ …and remarks not broadcast: ‘Nobody trusts Boris Johnson. Who could trust Boris Johnson? He lies everywhere to everyone. He lies to his family. Johnson is apeing some of the attitudes of Trump. ‘If you’re in the glorious moment of supreme power the one thing you don’t want is to be held to account… ‘He doesn’t take any notice of what people say. He doesn’t care what people think. He just wants to be Prime Minister.’ Johnson ‘doesn’t give a damn for independent analysis, impartial judgment on what it [the Government] is doing. They’re not willing to submit to scrutiny… because they’re arrogant with power. And they won’t last. ‘If you’re in the glorious moment of supreme power the one thing you don’t want is to be held to account. You do it your way. Boris Johnson, above all politicians, does it his way. He doesn’t take any notice of what people say. ‘He doesn’t care what people think. He just wants to be Prime Minister.’ But he claimed the tactic would backfire, and said that moment could occur when Mr Johnson’s Brexit strategy started to go wrong. ‘The moment will come when they need to talk to someone. Things are not going to go easy. The decisions that are stacking up over Brexit, trade negotiations, are going to be very difficult. At some point they will need to explain why they failed to get the 100 per cent they promised.’ In the edited part of the interview that was broadcast, Dimbleby lambasted Mr Johnson’s decision to use his own in-house TV film makers for his Brexit night broadcast instead of the BBC or another mainstream media organisation. Mocking the kind of soft interview he said Mr Johnson wanted, grinning Dimbleby went on: ‘The idea he can have his own television unit and you come in, chat to him, and say “ooh, Prime Minister, things are going very well,” and he says, “yes, it’s going very well, thank you.” That is taking us back 50 years. It’s propaganda.’ Internewscast – 22 Feb 20 BBC legend rips apart Boris Johnson as David Dimbleby blasts the Prime Minister... LLOYDS is going to FLY BAdder, Decimate would only be 1 in 10, not a quarter. Although it is too early to make an accurate estimate of the mortality rate of coronavirus, early indications from China are that it is around 2 to 3% so quite a long way from your 25%. Cheers, Frog in a tree
