Re: Trading statement Why are 6 monthly (instead of the current 3 monthly) divis attractive ??
Trading statement What's not to like? Good news following more good news. I'd like a share split or 6 monthly divs though.

Article by analysist Phil Oakley Good article IMO well worth reading:[link]
Re: All-time closing high today Tb,I am regretting only buying a modest stake. Now reluctant to buy more as price at high though sure new highs will continue to occur.Just read an article on XPP by analyst Phil Oakley, will post link in next.May well top up after reading article.
Re: All-time closing high today I've held for a little under 6 months and up on gross purchase price by 18.6% giving it an AER of 44.3%, by AER my best performing share out of 40.---------- -Similar story for me Rhigos. Up 24% since May and mostly last month or so. Fairly stable price range prior to January. Out of interest how do you calculate your AER%?XPP likely to be a long term hold for me although could do with a share split for DRIP purposes.Cheers,
All-time closing high today Closing SP was 2015 +3.33% on yesterdays close of 1950.I've held for a little under 6 months and up on gross purchase price by 18.6% giving it an AER of 44.3%, by AER my best performing share out of 40.Would be a strong buy if not a at all time high.Forecast (fc) PE 17, fc Normalised EPS growth 6.7%, fc yield 3.7%
steady progress here Full year prelims out today are pretty much as flagged in the Jan trading update with shareprice undulating around 1950p so far. Final div 26p ('not less than 25p') 3.7M year end cash position. Orders up 9% at 'constant currency' but translates into more GBP. The recent acquisition (EMCO) performing well. They are adding more capacity at the Vietnam site costing around 6M they predict and shifting higher margin production away from China.Website has a video interview with CEO & CFO - promotional I suppose but summarises where XPP are going. Interestingly, (for International Womens Day today) it shows all the women at the vietnamese factory at work standing up - not a chair in sight! Supposed to be best for posture and avoids back problems longterm. May be we should all follow XPPs lead here!Good luck to all holders SG
Re: Trading Update 13Feb17 sharegardener,,Whoops, saw there was a news flag on 13/02/2017 but that was just about "Reporting Calendar" then in a senior moment saw other news stories on 13th but did not notice the month was 01 not 02. Thanks for pointing out my silly mistake, probably a sign of age.Very glad I bought XPP in September my second best share out 40 for rate of increase in SP (AER=40.3%), just ahead of Boot (Henry) bought 2 days later with AER of 43.5%.
Re: Trading Update 13Feb17 Rhigos - the trading update was from 13th January!Yesterdays RNS was the financial calendar stating finals will be on 8th March - a bit later than previous years. The SP here often swings up & down wildly on thin volumesSG
Trading Update 13Feb17 [link] looked good to me:"Outlook""We are encouraged by the strong order intake we have experienced during the second half of 2016. We enter 2017 with positive momentum and therefore expect that we should be able to show further growth in revenues in 2017."SP volatile today so gather update received with mixed opinions. They suggest that probably a minimum div of 70p for FY which at current SP gives dividend yield of 3.6%. Of those non-investment trust companies in FTSE small cap index average yield, for those companies that pay a dividend, is 3.61% so at least average. Dividend covered x1.6 which suggests they are not retaining a lot of cash for growth, however forecast pre-tax profit growth 8.3% and EPS growth 7.8% which is OK.Appears to me to be a solid company reinforced with a little above average Piotroski F-score of 6. Average for shares in this index is 5.3 (best possible is 9).
Strange life... Strange life......... news is good and the share price dives.Still, I've only had them a year and they're up 25%. Can't complain.
Re: Reason for today's rise? Hi kapita,You really are keeping a close eye on XPP . I've been on pleasant boating trips on Thames between Pangbourne and Goring. On my Excel share work book I have a spread sheet sorted by a column that calculates AER, out of 60 rows (some shares have a row for each date purchased, around 40 different companies) XPP is highest AER at the moment showing 29.42% though as held for only 4.5 months that figure can change quickly. Actual percentage rise on gross purchase price is 10.09%. In this low interest rate environment I am content with any share with a total return of over 5% but aim at 10%.2nd best AER is 3i Group purchased 5.4 months ago AER 25.66%, 3i Group purchased 4.4 AER 20.55%. 4th best is HLMA purchased 15.1 months ago AER 19.07%. The AER figures are for capital gain only and do not include dividends.I have some shares that are sadly very close to complete write-offs, worst one GKP, has an AER of -69%. Now have a firmer stop-loss policy and avoid riskiest shares.
Re: Reason for today's rise? Just going on a walk to Pangbourne which goes past the back of their offices, weather looks ok but will put a waterproof on just in case, good tea-rooms there as well, they always say never sell Shell, but you could change Shell to XP Power I think. Good Luck K
Re: Reason for today's rise? Hi Rhigos,SP has now crept up to the highest point in the last 6 years (brief spike to 1950 in Mar 2011). Volumes are low. Not sure exactly how price relates to volume and demand but presumably if few sellers then the offer price in the auction call gets pushed up to satisfy even small orders. My impression is that most people are holding on to their shares in expectation of further rises. XPP does have exaggerated price swings - perhaps algo driven? There are broker price targets of 2230 but I dont put a lot of weight on these.I also regret not having bought more on the dips to 1400-1450 thinking it would drop further. Im also perhaps overcautious about buying when there has been a decent run up in SP only to find that there are further rises that I miss out on. LSE, ABDP and AMS being some examples where Ive watched but never bought!XP results should be out around 22nd Feb if they follow previous years. But no date on their financial calendar!SG
