Re: Excellent results today RhigosI had a look at the shareholdings in WJG and it seems as though the total interest of the CEO and his family may be slightly above the level you mentioned. That being so I would imagine that he would wish to retain some influence after stepping aside and I read one suggestion that in time he may become a NED. It certainly is an interesting situation and I note that Woodford has added to his already substantial holding in the company. He obviously does not see anything in the report which causes concern.
Re: Excellent results today Agree re sales, but could well spread over the tax years to minimise tax implications....could easily be 6 months plus. What are you thinking re the price?
Re: Excellent results today PIE-EATER, "Not convinced MWJ would want to go for a new venture (- -). More likely he would want to diversify his investment interests a little."Could well be, either way he is a likely seller of a significant number of WJG shares IMO. I agree with you about price but for different reason. I think until MWJ has got his stake in MJG down to a level is comfortable with which might be over 6 months. All guess work of course on my behalf.
Re: Excellent results today Not convinced MWJ would want to go for a new venture (implies he doesn't want to spend the necessary time at WJG so why would he want to start up something new (which may take more time initially). More likely he would want to diversify his investment interests a little. Sticking my head up above the parapet, I would suggest a 190 - 230 range until successor is named.....then depends on who it is!GLAPEp.s...would top up if went to low 190s in absence of bad news but expect to sit on hands for a while in light of MJWs departure
Re: Excellent results today Dave the Tyke, Regarding institutional investors another angle that crossed my mind is Martin Watkin Jones share interests. He has I believe an interest in around 30% of WJG shares, 3% directly held and the rest through various trusts:[link] would be quite understandable for him to want to sell some of the shares as he is standing down from Chief Executive. Being well off retirement age he may want to start a new venture needing capital. I think there needs to be an RNS if holding by any of the trusts drops through certain thresholds. Worth looking out for any such RNS's IMO. The big bounce today in SP is reassuring. Suggests to me nothing wrong with WJG and market keen to pick up shares being sold at a lower price.
Re: Excellent results today RhigosYou may well be right that an institutional investor pulled out but this is the second time that the share price has fallen intra-day into the 190's in recent weeks. I recall it fell briefly to 191 on one day before recovering to over 210 and no RNS was forthcoming. I think the only relevant RNS during that period was that concerning Octopus, who marginally increased their stake. I cannot see anything in the report which would have caused the fall but in view of the bounce back this afternoon there must have been some sizeable purchases. (although my modest one would have had no impact on the price!)

Re: Excellent results today Re got ahead of itself, you may be right about the SP. Certainly the performance was outstanding. Achieved the 2018 forecast rev in 2017; beat latest forecast net profit, beat latest forecast EPS, strong cashflow. The decision at this point by the CEO and 'family' man to step down - although after new CEO appointed etc - is a bit unusual although if one troubles to read through the full RNS, then one will see that there has been an executive committee set up for a year or so and perhaps he had intentions to pursue pastures new. He is not an old man - still just under 50 - and the family have 30% shareholding. I still believe they have a very strong model and they need to get on with building a very strong relationship with the big insurers who have eye-watering amounts of cash to invest in long term rented housing. Watkin Jones are the very best partners to follow the process through from cradle to grave so to speak, using that cash to pay for the stages and of course give them a very decent return. The SP will be back and they deserve a decent PER, especially when their recent additions to their portfolio seem to be coming in thick and fast. The CEO leaaving is a query and so I can only give it a WB at this stage, although my head really says they are a SB. Just not sure how many people will agree with me in terms of pushing the shares faster. We will see and all IMHO of course.PS What think you Gretel in particular?
Re: Excellent results today "The share price ran ahead of itself and the impending departure of the CEO must also have had an impact."I think there must be more to it than that because of the size of the fall. Trading volume of over 4 million today much higher than usual. Average daily volume in the last 6 months around 0.5 million with a maximum of 2.8 million. Looks to me like one or more institutional investors selling out.Is there something in the results that we are missing?
Re: Excellent results today The share price ran ahead of itself and the impending departure of the CEO must also have had an impact. The share price is now back to a much more realistic level.
Re: Excellent results today If Excellent Results - (I have not read report), then why such a big drop in sp today?
Excellent results today Excellent results, and great to see the beating of expectations, with 14p EPS achieved against forecast 13.4p EPS. The overriding point here is the excellent visibility going forward which justifies the bullish outlook comments.Worth noting the £41m cash pile too.Good news that Curlew are launching a second Fund given the first one has been so successful.Shame that the CEO is going after such a long time, but he's around for a while yet and will ensure the handover is orderly. This will likely be the reason for some sales, as well as the usual short-term traders making losses on trying to predict the market pre-results.
Another planning approval likely next week Looks like more good news next week:[link] planners expected to approve new 430-bedroom Belfast student blockJanuary 11 2018 A 430-bedroom student accommodation building looks likely to be given the green light next week. Lacuna Developments and Watkin Jones Group purchased 26-44 Little Patrick Street last year from UniCiti. The joint venture is behind three other new student accommodation developments in the city. The scheme, which had planning permission for 354 rooms, is being put forward for fresh approval at a Belfast City Council planning committee meeting next week.etc"

Re: Saturation ah well.......should have topped up instead of talking about it!
