Re: 42p ceiling I'm not sure this is going to aFall much further so I have just had a little top up today, divi round the corner so a few more should DRIP in.Difficult to spot opportunities in the current market, but I think this is one. Back up to 60p before you know it, mark mewerds.TP
Re: SP Tommy, are you taking it all a bit personal with Michael Gove? The Welsh heavily backed exit and of course play Juncker's lot tonight, so will you cheering for Belgium?
Re: 42p ceiling The market has priced in a recession. SP is back at 2013 level but VTU is unrecognisable to then. Chairman, CEO and CFO have all bought at this level. Share volumes are up. AIM listing could be the issue or worries over sustaining growth. Lookers was hit harder but has come back stronger than VTU. May need a positive trading statement before we see much movement.
SP Less than a month ago there were predictions of 80p plus I was picking out my summer clobber in H of F Now i'm off to Primark for my 3 day glow t shirts for a fiver and my over sized baseball hat loke a fat American trucker Changed from Santorini to Santa Ponsa and it's all cause of that littel slime ball Gove!!!!!!!! Anyway he'll end up behind the sofa with his thump in his mouth bawlin for his mammy
42p ceiling Looks like our friendly market makers have decided that 42p is going to be the upper limit for the foreseeable future!
Re: goodwill bad policy? You are in good company ...StockMarketWire | Wed, 29th June 2016 - 10:20Peter Jones, Chairman, bought 117,000 shares in the company on the 28th June 2016 at a price of 42.94p. The Director now holds 1,522,000 shares.
Re: goodwill bad policy? I also have bought a tickle at 42p, just 4p above NAV excluding goodwill of 38p. I see the NAV as a floor, although as previously stated I remember once buying European Motor Holdings at about one third of NAV and a yield of about 10-12%, so not necessarily a floor!!.I am surprised that Marshall Motor Holdings has been hit nowhere near as hard, since they have been expanding in a similar way paying large amounts of goodwill
Re: goodwill bad policy? I wonder what Mr Forrester is thinking at the moment. I see he bought some more shares at 52p but it would be interesting to know what his thoughts are at 42p. I am sitting on a substantial loss at the moment, and I am disappointed that the share price has risen only slightly over the last couple of days. However, I am reasonably sanguine: the company is well-managed, has excellent staff, good customer relations, cash in the bank, and a growing, increasingly diverse network of dealerships. History suggests that Vertu can cope with the downs as well as the ups. It coped well during the credit crunch of 2008 and emerged stronger and fitter. I don't normally "average down" but I will in this case.
Different opinion Mr Ed UK new car sales could fall by 20%Experts predict new car sales could tumble by up to 20 per cent if the UK falls into a recession following the Brexit vote. The PSA Group has said it is already making changes to its UK vehicle prices following the Brexit vote. A spokesman said: "Our teams are looking at different scenarios for price adjustments to our brands' models to respond to swiftly to the markets' reaction." Mike Hawes, SMMT chief executive, said, The British public has chosen a new future out of Europe. Government must now maintain economic stability and secure a deal with the EU which safeguards UK automotive interests."This includes securing tariff-free access to European and other global markets, ensuring we can recruit talent from the EU and the rest of the world and making the UK the most competitive place in Europe for automotive investment.
Re: goodwill bad policy? You make a good point but must surely acknowledge that the SP fall is due to the uncertainty caused by Brexit. Many companies are similarly hit and we await any impact on the motor industry. I recognise the risk but believe the concerns are overdone. For info. see reuters link for early demand indications.[link]
Re: goodwill bad policy? The danger of paying too much goodwill on acquisitions in this industry has suddenly become all too apparent with the share price plunging to just above its tangible NAV of 38p, albeit no doubt the fall heavily overdone and directors buying. It all looks good until the unexpected hits (or the inevitable downswing, which always come sooner or later ).
Re: Mister Ed. The B word Oh Tommy. This is what happens when politicians don't listen.
Re: 15% underperformance I see the previous posts under this thread have been taken down. There is justice in the World after all.TP
Re: 15% underperformance So now we have to suffer the paid RT lackey AND his parrot !Lord preserve us !TP
capricious working capital flows 15% underperformance from Vertu: "Despite 15%+ underperformance in VTUs shares against peers YTD, we... following a review of free cash flow, working capital and capex. VTUs model is impressive, and we believe that P&L forecasts are deliverable, but with signals pointing to a more challenging macro canvas, we need a higher FCF yield to compensate for the uncommonly high dependency, in our view, on capricious working capital flows."
