Accelerating Red Rock Biofuels? This is bad news. Clearly RRB have lost faith in VLS.

Accelerating Red Rock Biofuels? Meanwhile Red Rock have doubled their order for FT tech from Emerging Fuels Technology: Green Car Congress Emerging Fuels Technology amends license with Red Rock Biofuels to double FT... Emerging Fuels Technology, Inc (EFT) has amended its license agreement with Red Rock Biofuels LLC (RRB) under which EFT will provide its TL8a Fischer-Tropsch (FT) technology to provide additional FT capacity for RRB’s Bio-Refinery in Lakeview,... Doesn’t bode well for the future plants that we’re told Red Rock want to build.

Accelerating Red Rock Biofuels? They should be looking for a knight…black or white…

Accelerating Red Rock Biofuels? agree. This is an overall net loss for VLS as Red Rock is no longer obligated to buy the full number of reactors from VLS. To me, this is a clear indication that VLS is close to going under and desperation is setting in. I hope this is not the case.

Accelerating Red Rock Biofuels? Who is Wareborn fooling? Himself? An existing order of 6 reactors and catalyst loadings, that will be re-optimized to 4 reactors and catalyst loading, will lead to a $1.1M near term increase in cashflow and a reduction in revenue of $3M. But it the delivery will be accelerated to keep Red Rock’s timing intact. This is a lot of spin What has really changed? Red Rock Biofuels has already licensed the Emerging Fuels Technology, so they can afford to buy less reactors and catalyst from Velocys. Velocys is desperate for cash and accepts a smaller order for an early cash payment. Why not saying that upfront?

APP subsidiary in administration Good points, SM. It really depends upon the project execution and management. Such an overrun does not bode well, even if the APP technology is sound. A thorough post mortem analysis of the project by Velocys is required. Do you think the funding agency will accept a switch from a UK gasifier company to a US one?

spannermonkey 01 Feb 2019

APP subsidiary in administration I suppose the question really is, ‘how does this affect APP?’ If the project has gone bust, that might be just down to the project rather than APP. However, if the technology itself was a root cause of Go Green going down the pan, than that does not bode well for VLS and our UK project. We do have TIR whom we are using in the US - maybe they will be the alternative. Im more concerned about the governments appetite to keep funding these projects. This set back (which was a DFT funded project too) might affect the size of the cheque we may be in line to get for stage 2 of the grant competition.

APP subsidiary in administration Found on the other message board that Go Green Fuels which was using APP’s technology went into administration. Here is a quote from the Energy Census article: “Initially envisioned as a £23-million ($29 million), five-year proof of concept project, challenges around installing the technology and ensuring it worked along with recruiting and training staff brought delays and saw costs balloon to around £30 million, and then up to £35 million.” The poster asked pointly “How does this affect our UK plans?” Comments? www.energycensus.com/Article/Pioneering-advanced-UK-biofuel-producer-enters-administration-4561.html

The project near Grimsby and the new CEO i read that too. Looking on a map, the site is nowhere near big populations. Ideally, you need to be close to London or Manchester. That, combined with an apparent ton of existing and planned facilities in the area, we may struggle to get enough waste. The more i think of this site, the more I think it was chosen because its cheap and more importantly, a secured site is most likely to be a condition to get the next stage of F4C funding.

The project near Grimsby and the new CEO There is an interesting discussion ongoing on the other MB about the four planned waste to X plants in this neighbourhood. There will be a local shortage of waste if all plants are realized. As Loosely suggest we should be investing in landfills since waste will be in short supply…

The project near Grimsby and the new CEO On one hand this is a great site. On the other, its not the best choice. I do wonder if this is us just meeting a condition of the DFT competition, rather than being a truly ready to commit to a site.
