Re: colin orr ewing I would treat any company he is involved with with great suspicion!
colin orr ewing Does it ring any alarm bells....looking to by into bcn and i see he is on the board..?
Re: Those holding must hope Thanks for the response Alpha, may as well keep hold of them. Still can't understand why I never saw the warning signs but live and learn, an expensive one in this case although you just never know eh....Sorry to hear about the Lotus but it would have given you years of trouble and expense, believe me I know, just like my TVR did.GL
Re: Those holding must hope Portia, first it depends on whether or not you need a tax loss to offset against profits on other shares sold. I am of the view that as things could not be much worse, sit on them and you never know what might happen. At worst it is still a 100% loss if you ever need it.I have only lost £2k which is still irritating but I still hurt from a loss over 40 years ago. An Australian mine was due to provide me with a new Lotus Elan after the Xmas holidays, I did not take out an option and they went in to Administration. I did however get my £100 stake back five years later.
Re: Those holding must hope I held around £17000 at one stage, I'm assuming now worthless, any advice?Go easy please as it still hurts.Cheers.
Re: Those holding must hope Well its interesting that oil dropped so much . As that would have helped back then . I suspect many small shareholders have lost all hope which is normal . But the bull case for gold is made by many . One can't sell here as HL has said that there aren't any buyers . Am not holding my breadth , I was just wondering what might be happening in Fiji with this old mine . Probably a good thing is that I can book this £2k loss and use the tax deductible to reduce the next tax bill.
Re: Those holding must hope I think all hope is long gone and the involvement of Asian investors is only likely to make the problem worse. An interesting comparison is MWA where the Chinese investors are a big minority but still want to run the show as their investment is currently showing a loss. Toys out of pram is an understatement in this case.
Those holding must hope that the price of gold goes well above 1700/1800 as backers may come back as a result . High gold is the only glimmer of hope here . With dollar so strong gold has done really well to touch $1300 , so we may get back into fashion , big may , though
