Re: Dividend RNS Number : 0037YVedanta Resources PLC12 May 2016Final Dividend ArrangementsVedanta Resources plc ("Vedanta" announced a final dividend of US 30 cents per Ordinary Share on 12 May 2016 in respect of the twelve months ended 31 March 2016. The dividend will be paid out in US dollars on 12 August 2016 to those shareholders on the Register of Members on 8 July 2016.Shareholders may elect to receive the final dividend in UK pounds sterling if they wish. The Board has determined that the exchange rate to be applied to convert the dividend into UK pounds will be GBP0.692 per US dollar, equating to a dividend of 21.00 pence per Ordinary Share. This exchange rate is based on the average exchange rate for the five business days prior to the announcement of the Company's final results on 12 May 2016.Shareholders wishing to receive their dividends in UK pounds sterling should notify the Company's Registrars by 11 July 2016.The Company's Registrars can also arrange for dividends to be paid directly into the shareholders' UK bank accounts. This arrangement will only be available in respect of dividends paid in UK pounds sterling.
Re: Dividend I would expect that the dividend will be skipped again this time round. Much better to have a healthy company that can grow again that one paying dividends it cannot afford. I would love them to pay dividends but not at the risk of breaching covenants and risking going broke. This share is my biggest single holding and I am sitting on losses of 55% but am definitely in for the long term. The special dividend from HZL will be upstreamed by paying accrued interest due to VED from subsidiaries and this should then see a bit of breathing space for the main company. They are still investing and going ahead in India which gives me some peace of mind and hopefully things will continue. Plenty of room for further big dividends in the future from HZL as well if the government will not sell may as well pay the tax and start distributing the cash to where it is most needed.
Re: Dividend Correction that should have been "Yield shown" not "Dividend shown".
Re: Dividend Dividend shown on ShareScope is 11.75% LINTON5 but that is historic for last full reporting year. I cannot see them paying a dividend while they have so much debt.
Re: Dividend Last divi was withdrawn anyway rhigos ,so won't be 10% anyway, a resumption in July would be nice though
RNS, Bond buyback Anyone got any views on recent RNS. Vedanta Resources said it has picked JP Morgan Securities to launch a buyback programme on behalf of the company in order to repurchase some of its outstanding bonds. Bonds I believe pay a fixed rate of interest so perhaps they are buying them back to improve their gearing. At the moment interest payments are high because they have high borrowings. 2015 gearing was an amazingly large 1000%.This IMO is a deeply troubled company.
Re: Dividend LINTON5, "Seriously need my divi this year,"Miners have been cutting dividends recently so I would not be surprised if VED did. The current extraordinary high yield and falling SP suggests to me market does not believe dividend sustainable. The right-off of around £4.6 billion was very bad news. A yield of over 10% is not compensation for a 43% fall in SP. Brokers views on VED not good.
Dividend Seriously need my divi this year, this is my main reason I became a shareholder in Vedanta2 years ago I always watched this share and like the way it was run.i see Hindustan zinc has just delivered a special divi for shareholders in there jubilee year, Hopefully a surprise here for the shareholders after this terrible downturn in commodities. Re: Bankruptcy risk, Altman Z number Rhigos,Thank you very much for an elaborative and educative message. I will keep watching for your new messages. Hope you and all long timers do well. As and when Commodities improve and the Cairn India's tax matters settle in Indian Courts, Vedanta should start climbing up again.Kind regard
Dividend story by Phil Oakley According to ShareScope VED has a Yield of 17.46% at Thu close. A reflection of how far SP has fallen. This article by Phil Oakley is very interesting, well worth a read.[link]
