For all you LKH seekers I am now using the LSE Portfolio tool to monitor my portfolio and I can affirm it is a hundred times better than the new ii board. It lacks chat so I have also signed up to FT Alphaville but it is not immediately obvious to SS how to navigate to chat on specific stocks, eg Unilever; so far all I have seen is general market chatter. Any advice much appreciated, thank you… SS

Results 1st Half Not sure where this is heading. Concerned about moving HQ to Holland and leaving FTSE100. Trackers and fund managers will have to duimp their holdings. uncertain times.

Results 1st Half Sold the lot to lock in some profit. Price 4356 - happy with that. Will be back in at £41. GLA

Results 1st Half OK, I’ve had a read, multiple sources. Limited consensus but here’s my interpretation (possibly wrong, not for the 1st time… or no doubt the last!) In recent quarters sales growth had mostly been driven by volume growth rather than price increases which has been the issue for several quarters and something management had said they wanted to improve upon. This time, margins up for the 1st time in a long while. Currency movements were against them but all individual divisions’ performance was solid so the ‘whole’ looks even better because no sign of any individual weakness. Particularly I like the sales growth of key (core) products to emerging markets where they can command a ‘premium product’ margin; rapidly growing volume in a (relatively) high margin environment – what’s not to like? Earnings per share up 7.8% to €1.22 after an adverse currency impact of 10.8%. Constant underlying earnings per share increased by 18.6% primarily driven by underlying sales growth, improved underlying operating margin. Diluted EPS are not so pretty, not pretty at all, but the excuses for the ‘exceptionals’ do sound plausible as one-offs. FCF is up from €1.4 billion to €1.8 billion although they include seasonal increase in inventory and receivables, which isn’t exactly cash in the bank. I particularly like (because it’s rare to hear) “The step-up was primarily driven by lower cash contributions to our pension funds”. I never thought it was out of control here but nice to hear that they can actually lower their contributions. Not going to say it but…. BT? Share buyback programme: €2.5 billion of the (up to) 1st tranche €6 billion programme executed. Still plenty of room for more. ULVR’s continued presence in the FTSE100 in some doubt following the Anglo-Dutch group announcement to shareholders who would vote in October on a plan to move its headquarters to Amsterdam… but it’s a global stock. Regards, ITDYA

Results 1st Half LSE:ULVR Now I understand. Weird(?) but with the old discussion boards I’d have picked up on this quickly; this new one? It’s just past 5pm and I already have a glass of wine (I’m cooking so it’s allowed)… now simply click on the ‘news’ button and read the RNS; or maybe no quite so simple. Easy to find now I know it’s there. Will have a read, digest and report back. Shame no LKH to cast his eye over it - didn’t always agree with the old so&so but always read the opinion. Regards, ITDYA

For all you LKH seekers Would be happy to see ULVR continue downward on the threat of leaving London. Would seem like a good time to buy as 1 . Anywhere in Holland cheaper than London. 2. Holland in EU London probably not 3. Dividends in € as if 2 above true then £ scrwd Deep

For all you LKH seekers OK. This PC was cobbled together from parts cannibalised from others people had cast-offs. It did have WIN 7/64 but it was a bit slow so I reversed it out and put on XP. It was still supported back then and now, with the EPOS registry hack, still will be by Microsoft until 2019 – not sure when they are going to pull the plug but I’m still getting regular security updates so it’s safe (plus none of the hackers seems to still be targeting XP anymore which helps). Plus point is it’s still reasonably quick, downside no embedded Snipping Tool. I’ll dig one up from somewhere; there’s bound to be a plug-in or add-on or, failing that, a stand-alone screen capture programme. Thanks again. Regards, ITDYA

For all you LKH seekers I used the snipping tool available on my PC. Whence it is loaded with the rectangle of screen shot I want I copy it (from within the snipping tool), then come back to the reply box and past (ctrl v), simple as that. Alternatively, I could save the picture then use the Upload command as indicated below by the red arrow:

For all you LKH seekers Yes that’s what I got. Now you just managed to copy and paste a picture(??). How did you do that my friend. Regards, ITDYA
