Placing Hi All, Well another placing announced today (1/2/2019) at 127, causing a dip in the SP this morning. Only for institutions again sadly. Booooo Pref

LSE:UKW I was holding UKW for a while. I assumed the price of electricity will rise with inflation over time and provide a stable income. I read the book Burning Answer about solar power and micro generation feeding into the grid. Apparently - right now - the price of electricity in southern Italy has fallen to near zero in the summer months. Due to sun (obviously) and FITs (feed in tariffs). Micro generation and the growth in renewables is compressing the price of electricity. Germany & Italy are the largest solar markets (certainly in Europe) but I understand the UK is third but some way back without the subsidy enjoyed by others (and curtailed by Osborne). Looking ahead solar will grow and there are doubts about the electriciy price moving upwards. This is not my opinion, but what I understand from the book.

Re: Next XD Date ? - budu Hi budu,Ii isnt my broker and all i use it for is the discussion boards and i have no ideaxwhat data is supposed to be present in the Analysis section. If i want accurate info on dividends (either dates or payment amounts) then i look at the LSE site for an RNS first and then the companys web site. In my experience info published elsewhere can be at best old.....ATBPref

Re: Next XD Date ? - Flyinthesky Hi Again Fly,Well the announcement of the placing caused a nice dip in the share price which triggered my buy limit order, so im in at 119.9x. Happy with that as with a 1.69 divi due thursday i coukd argue that ive bought at about 118.2.Had a read of the placing document, doesnt really make it clear who the placees are though it does mention institutions. Had kind of hoped to be offered some based on the size if your current holding, but doesnt sound like its going to work that way.Anyway the share price recovered to 121.6 by the close so all is good.ATBPref

Re: Placing I agreeBut if you buy before xd date (10th) you will get the next divi which those buying via placing do not getAlso, for the long term, remember a placing will raise money much cheaper than all the expense of offering to all existing holdersAll in all, you won't be far off

I dont mind giving up one dividend payment to get in at a lower price. Sometimes i buy just before the XD date as well. For instance i just bought MANX at 186.99 yesterday. I really wanted to buy in the low 180s (having looked at the charts) but with a 7.5 dividend due on 24/5 i set a buy limit order at 187, which i figured would give me an effective entry price of just under 180 (MANX was over 190 till yesterday). Also that same limit order should execute my desired buy on the XD date, i just had to leave it set.Doing the same with UKW right now. Limit order set at 121.5 which with a ~1.6 dividend would give me an effective entry price just under 120. If not hopefully it should execute my desired buy on the XD date.ATBPref

Re: Next XD Date ? Thanks coldinghamStrangely it is not on their own website or on FE investigate my normal places for this sort of thing. Ive added the dates to my spreadsheet although same month ex divi and payments dont help with my colour codes! PrefInvestor1, Im hoping to try the same with RGL when that goes ex divi next time having added here last Oct.

That was oversubscribed so may not need much more cash for now ?.Still hoping to pick some up for less than 120....fingers crossed.ATBPref
