Re: Woud it be too strong to say... Geology and lots of shares in circulation are good points to note. The geology point is more visible to me. I had not thought about the number of shares in circulation being relevant. The latter point clearly is applicable to any company with lots of low value shares.
Re: Woud it be too strong to say... The reason i sold completely before the Namibia well reached TD was because of the geology and after the well failure the reason i wouldn't buy again is because of the shares in circulation around 4 billion...this will not allow the company to raise capital for anything else without something positive happening first...consolidation for example...but i've been saying these things for a while 18-24 months...oil prices have now collapsed and a takeover may be possible on terrible terms for all share holders but who would buy an auld welly like this especially since Opir Energy paid Tower Resources to take probably the best license it has in its portfolio...so consolidation it is assuming the BOD have the stomach not to throw in the towel...best of luck
Re: Woud it be too strong to say... I think there was an element in allowing myself to be swindled as the sp had got so low for this share when I bought it but then it went to an all historical low.
Re: Woud it be too strong to say... well therein lies the conundrum...i'm positive many on the board of Tullow Oil held TRP shares during their 3 well failures in Uganda being right next door to billions of barrels, but, and this is where it starts to get a little shady...the way the manipulation of the seismics and cpr for offshore Namibia was portrayed in the media for me showed how rotten the whole process can be...If you trade predominantly in oil and gas stocks you must have a working understanding of its geology and what it means in regards to exploration wells...i knew nothing to begin with, but, soon understood you have to put the time in so you know what you're looking at...don't be lazy and believe what you're being told/sold.so the question should be, are you allowing yourself to be swindled?best of luck
Woud it be too strong to say... that trp is a swindler?
Re: Namibian Oil oh yes I remember the sales pitch well. (it's glowing in the dark they said). Aye right.
Re: Namibian Oil The companies drilling the WW1 well offshore Namibia didn't fancy drilling the lower structures the first time around even though pre any recent well offshore Namibia the Albian/Aptian carbonates were seen to be the most interesting targets until they were proved to be not so interesting(Char/HRT) and costly...Trp in its present form could not participate in any well continuation offshore Namibia.[link] geology south of the walvis ridge explains alot...basically the reasons up until now of why it is so under-explored and by such a resource hungry industry on both sides of the Atlantic.Volcanics and more importantly the environment the basins were formed in were painted over in the run up to the recent wells in many articles...like every good sales pitch they were written to take you in.They're still going for it...although its harder to be taken in now...right.[link] looking to farm out all their blocks now (as opposed to before when they kept the majority and the cost of the wells crippled the company) before they can continue and that will be no time soon which tells the story of what their exploration wells revealed...and for no other reason.[link] of luck
Re: info - bottomed out? Yes issue of equity then consolidation, the same olld chstnut repeats itself!
Re: Namibian Oil Who exactly?
Namibian Oil Although Tower have been unsuccessful so far in finding oil in Namibia, it is only a matter of time before it is found. There are still big players out there.
Re: info - bottomed out? "That contractors recently agreed to receive payment in shares at 0.66p" - the average for December 2014 when oil was $70 / bbls WOW. Seems they were ripped off at the prices now. Wait till they see the value of their shares come the consolidation
info - bottomed out? [link] sharp rally in Tower Resources (LON:TRP) shares indicates the Africa focussed explorer may have bottomed out.Tower shares had dropped from around 5p in the past year due in part to disappointing exploration results, and broader sector-wide weakness driven by the collapse of crude oil prices.Investors will hope the trading in recent weeks will soon resemble something of a nadir for the AIM quoted share, which peaking at 0.49p earlier today marked a near 400% rally.Tower, in a stock market statement, said it was not aware of any specific new reasons for the movement. The sharp rally shows Tower had been heavily oversold previously, according to one person familiar with the stock, who also suggested that sellers in the market had now been exhausted. That contractors recently agreed to receive payment in shares at 0.66p, a big premium at the time, also suggested the stocks value may have fallen too far.It is understood the company continues to see support from institutional investors and its core base of shareholders.Towers management, as indicated in a recent strategic update, is seeking new deals to optimise the portfolio and reduce costs.Such deals could feature at either asset or corporate level, and could potentially see Tower combined with another group. These corporate activities are, however, said to still be at an early stage.Chairman Jeremy Asher, in last weeks statement, said: This is a time of especially rapid change and volatility, which we think has, led to a short-term under-valuation of exploration assets. We believe that underlying market conditions will improve over the next couple of years, and sentiment will follow; the question is how best to position our company for this environment, not merely to manage through it but also to take advantage of the opportunities it creates.
Tower Resources Merger ? Today's pro active article states due to current market conditions Tower may now be at the bottom and plans are at early stages for merger or consolidation. Hmmmmmmmm
