Heads up! No regrets so far on my TRIG investments from February. Up 8.7% so far. Staying with it for the ride and adding. Cheers, Frog in a tree

Heads up! Hi Pref Are you still a holder of TRIG? I had thought that the recent rights offer was overpriced at 114 and that it would dilute the SP significantly if everyone took it up so decided not to. But ended up buying more today in the market and rather surprised that they were 118.4! Doh! CM

Heads up! PS Should have bought my UKW when they were 129.x the other day, back up to 133.x today…grrrr ATB Pref

Heads up! Hi Again @frog_in_a_tree, Just happened on this article that dame in the mail from Citywire Investment Trusts Citywire Foresight: Greencoat extension breathes life into renewables Foresight UK Infrastructure Income manager Mark Brennan believes more renewable trusts will follow the example of Greencoat UK Wind in extending the lifespan of their assets and boosting the value of their investments. Sounds like a few of my renewables might get a boost from this, including TRIG. ATB Pref

Heads up! Hi Again @frog_in_a_tree, Don’t get me wrong I really like renewables and thus far they’ve done really well for me, especiallly over the last 12 months when a lot of other things haven’t done so well. But some, like TRIG, have gone up a lot, so I personally am looking to find the right entry point before buying any more. Hence my interest in the recent UKW price drop. Also have a personal objective to get to about the same level of holding in each of my renewable stocks and I’m currently underweight on UKW. ATB Pref

Heads up! Hi Pref, There is always a bit of a risk with this type of investment. However, in my view the push for energy from renewable sources is only going to grow. The gradual replacement of oil powered vehicles by electric could also be require significant extra generating capacity. I will follow my hunch on this one. Cheers, Frog

Heads up! Hi Again @frog_in_a_tree, TRIG was first brought to my attention by FRTEB, remember him ?. Not seen any posts from him for a while, he might have something to add. I remember him telling me that there was a seasonal effect in the share price, can’t say that I’ve noticed it myself. All these renewables companies seem to have the same sort of business model. Raise some cash, use it to buy or build some renewable plants (solar, wind, anaerobic digestion, ground source heat etc) usually ones holding Renewable Obligations Certificates (which guarantee payments for the next twenty odd years + RPI usually and mean that power suppliers buy from them to fulfil their “green” energy commitments) and then they operate them. The likes of BSIF and NESF only buy solar plants, UKW only does wind, TRIG does them all as I recall. That’s my current understanding anyway, such as it is. Obviously the UK are pulling back on their commitment to renewables so there is perhaps a risk there – though common sense indicates that current trends should continue. But then common sense doesn’t always count for much…… Also ALL of these companies are heavily dependant on electricity prices increasing, which personally I think that they will but it can’t be 100% guaranteed. If electricity prices were to collapse for some reason then these companies would not do well. ATB Pref

Heads up! Hi @frog_in_a_tree, Well I really like renewables, stable prices, good dividends RPI linked in most cases. And yes the green effect too - but I am not too focused on that myself, though my wife would approve. I hold TRIG, UKW, BSIF, NESF & UKW collectively about 16% of my portfolio right now. Gains this year have been substantial. My first entry into TRIG was at 104.x in Feb 2018 so the price has moved A LOT. And all the ITs are at a premium. Still going up ATM, have you missed the boat ?. Not sure, but expensive now. You might also consider UKW which was 135 the other day but the price has been driven down by them doing an institutional placing at 127. I am hoping to buy some more at close to that price. At your own risk obviously DYOR etc !! ATB Pref

Heads up! Hello Pref I have had an eye for TRIG over the last year or so but perhaps have not been paying sufficient attention. Looking at the chart it had a good year in 2018, bucking the market. I like the idea of investing in renewables as it does not trouble the conscience unlike BAE and BAT for instance. I am considering opening a position but have I missed the boat? Any opinions? Cheers Frog in a tree

Heads up! Hi @FRTEB, I read an article today which was counselling against investing in NESF and JLEN specifically because of the removal of government support for renewables. Seems that the Renewables Oblifagation Scheme got closed in 2017 which is expected to damage investment in new on shore wind and solar projects in particular. Doesn’t sound good. I hold TRIG, BSIF and JLEN at the moment and they seem to be doing OK. Was thinking of adding NESF but not so sure now… Any views / comments ?. ATB Pref

Re: O/T The pic popped up on my twitter feed. I don't go looking for this kind of stuff. Honest, guv. " Now if you could get them to pay for the shade " On many sites they are put to work in order to keep the grass to a reasonably low height, which saves on the running costs of a human and a petrol-guzzling machine. On that basis I don't begrudge them a little bit of shade on their 'lunch' break. What with me being a responsible employer

O/T There's more than one use for wind turbines: [link]

FRTEB 27 Feb 2018

Heads up! Along with TRIG I also hold BSIF - very good results out today. Like TRIG there is also an excellent dividend on offer. More info here: [link] I also hold JLEN. Also worth a look if you're considering TRIG & BSIF.

Re: Nice Bounce Today - FRTEB Hi Again FRTEB,Well had I been aware of the stock earlier then I could have bought on XD day, which is what I do with most of my purchases. That would have got me in at 102.x !!. I am normally happy to give up one dividend to get the insurance of a lower price and more shares. So if I was being really hard on myself Id be beating myself up for not knowing about it earlier !!!.Anyway, thanks again.ATBPref
