Re: Excellent update Not sure why Les Wood would have spoken publicly about the issue unless dividends were on the cards. I'm sure that he would have cleared any such statement before making it publicly, but it would be wrong of the company to raise expectations (and therefore possibly influence the share price) before it was firm policy. A hint is probably enough right now. Share buy-backs seldom have the equivalent effect on the share price but reduce the number of shares on which dividends are being paid so share buybacks and dividends in combination make some financial sense. TLW must eventually choose between the balance of capital appreciation and dividend returns to keep its shareholders happy. Note, from the 1H 2015 report:"In 2015, in view of the fall in the oil price during 2H 2014, the Board suspended the dividend. At a time when Tullow is focusing on capital allocation, financial flexibility and cost reductions, the Board believes that Tullow and its shareholders are better served by investing these funds into the business."Dividends were suspended with reference to specific financial constraints, not "ditched" as many reported. I'd expect an official statement if the suspension policy were to become a permanent policy. Standard and Poor have stated that a return to dividends is unlikely for 2 years:[link] company will be more concerned with continuing to recover its previously high credit rating before paying a dividend. On another point, this AGM statement leaves room for conspiracy theorists:"From the conclusion of the AGM, Kevin Massie will be stepping down as Company Secretary to pursue another role in Tullow. The Board has appointed Adam Holland, currently Deputy Company Secretary & Senior Legal Advisor, to the role of Company Secretary." Now, what "other role" might require the undivided attention of a company secretary in an oil company? I can only think of a couple of possibilities.
Re: Excellent update Having attended the AGM, the chances of a dividend are very unlikely. Share buy backs might well occur in the distant future, however, we still have a lot of debt to sort out, if memory serves correct, then, debt is around £3.4 billion.
Re: Short positions Odey is off the list of declared short positions at last, down to 0.45% on 24/04/2018 so still a fair number to buy back before the position is closed. That leaves us with three declared shorts totalling just 3%, Capital Fund Management at 0.89%, Key Group at 1.39% and Linden Advisors at 0.72%.
Short interest in TLW now down to 3% - the bears have surely moved on from TLW now - suggests there is genuine support for the price around here?
Excellent update Good to see things progressing well and with oil set to reach $80 this year i can see a dividend for next yearLonger term were in a nice uptrend if you can trade the dips thats even better.Still have short term target of 260p in place
Newsnight Did anyone catch Newsnight last night? Very interesting, particularly from about 23 minutes in. You can see it on iPlayer. Not specific to TLW but of general interest in relation to social media.
Re: TLW considers dividend I would have thought every $5 a barrel would add a lot more than $100 million in cash flow!!!!!! Remember all the heavy lifting is all ready done. Could you break in down. THANKS
TLW considers dividend [link] Wood setting out options."Tullow swung back into profit in 2017 after three years in the red. It is set to generate around $500 million in free cash flow at oil prices around $60 a barrel, with every further $5 a barrel adding around $100 million in cash flow, Wood said. Benchmark Brent crude futures LCoc1 trade at around $74 a barrel."
Bodes well RNS balance of probability appears that the current production, steady, and growing, and the future productions cash generation, can make further inroads into useful debt reductions.(This, as i see it, being one of the strongest influencers on the sp )SAGE
Tree shaking time Let's see where the share price ends Friday. Steady as she goes trading update.
Re: AGM and Trading Statement Joey, calm down, the more you say the worse it sounds - it has become a rant now. All governments use propaganda, some more than others and some silence the opposing voices. It is democratic freedoms that provide control over political excesses. You have to keep your objectivity, political dogmatism is a barrier to clear thinking.Try to chill out, you can disagree with others without fanaticism. As for views on TLW my own are, and always have been, longer term. Things are looking better than ever and the oil price is looking bullish following a long period of great buying opportunities. Those who took up the rights issue are seeing over 80% profit on that alone. TLW is improving its debt position by the day and the full extent of that won't be in the results. None of us knows what is around the corner though. Look at Odey's short for example. He was shorting down to the lowest of TLW's low price while some others were buying. TLW looks to be well on the road to recovery now and he still has about 8 million shares to buy back in TLW alone with the price rising. However badly your short has gone it can't be as bad as that. He made the mistake of getting too dogmatic in his views and look where that got him. [link] he is seems to be managing to turn things around a bit though (if it lasts), so look on the bright side:[link] signs of that dogmatism though. As always, tomorrow will be interesting.
Re: AGM and Trading Statement [link] need to up your game son, read something that makes you think about what is happening, and start asking some real questions instead of lazily accepting the dross thats dished out by your usual sources.
Re: AGM and Trading Statement Where is your proof that Russia spread nerve agents in the UK, or are you just rattling off what you heard on the BBC recently. As regard Russia in Syria Brummel, tell me again who was it that took on ISIS and Al Nusra and destroyed them, back in 2015, when the Americans and British were pretending to attack them.No I'm afraid you have it wrong. You must be the last man in the western World not to know who it is that is actually arming them and financing them. You are chock full of fake news, and way behind the times, nobody believes that Assad used Chemical weapons two weeks ago, How about some condemnation with regard's Yemen where a score of people were killed by the Saudi's when they attacked a wedding and not for the first time.As regards rigging its own elections its more fake news, Putin Is way more popular in Russia than Teresa may will ever be in UK. Remind me again about the dodgy dossier and all the lies that were told about Iraq.Who was it that destroyed Libya and turned it into a basket case, same as the were trying to do in Syria. I f you want links I can swamp you with them.[link] just two, on topics you have mentioned, and if you had and y real interest in finding out the truth you would not be Parroting what you are fed every evening on 10 o clock news.Or maybe this, to take you out of your comfort zone, You like things simple. The truth is out there if you want to find it, But that might not suit your puerile take on things.[link]
Tomorrow is results day Am I correct? If so, then hoping it won't re-trace on results.D
