New Mobius Trust From Citywire: Veteran emerging markets fund manager Mark Mobius is lining up the launch of a new investment trust to take advantage of the recent sell-off in the asset class. Mobius Investment Trust (MMIT) will focus on small and medium-sized companies in emerging and frontier markets and will be run with an absolute return remit aimed at avoiding long-term losses. This would be the first closed-end fund from Mobius’ new firm Mobius Capital Partners which he formed with Carlos Hardenberg and Greg Konieczny after the trio quit fund manager Franklin Templeton earlier this year. Hardenberg succeeded Mobius as the manager of Templeton Emerging Markets (TEM) investment trust for three years while Konieczny managed the unusual Romanian investment company Fondul Proprietatea (0OKS). Like the open-ended funds the firm is launching, MMIT would look to invest in companies with resilient business models with the potential to make environmental, social and governance (ESG) improvements. ‘The recent correction across emerging and frontier markets has presented the perfect conditions to be launching MMIT, with currencies at an all-time low and company valuations looking increasingly attractive,’ stated Mobius. Broker Jefferies International has been hired to co-ordinate the fund-raising and London listing scheduled for next month. Scott Harris will advise on the intermediaries offer.

New manager Not ideal !Seems to be very rushed announcement and quite curt, glossing over CH but in a professional sort of way. Wonder where CH will surface? A lot of speculation around.Believe its a recommendation in IC earlier this week - bet they're chuffed!PE

Re: Discount to NAV I am a long term holder (since 1992) buying monthly with a view to continued long term hold and occasional part sale for profit (if discount <10%).Regarding discount - EM is still relatively risky while developed markets prosper, and temit now has a higher % in IT and China than before - perceived as more risky areas - and a more concentrated portfolio which also implies more risk/conviction (delete as you see fit) . I see 42% in top 10 stocks, with some holdings at 7-8% - in former times more holdings and largest holding more like 3-4%.I think 13% is continued buy, and the EM story is as strong as ever. Not all will prosper, but remember that 100 years ago USA was considered an EM.az
Re: Discount to NAV As a very long term holder I'm happy with the gap, means my monthly investment buys more than it should each month. If I wanted to sell I would be unhappy.I may be wrong here (happy to be corrected) but, whenever I check, it's usually at quite a big discount. One of the reasons I initially picked this as an IT over unit trusts was a 15% discount to NAV,
Discount to NAV The discount is now 13%+. Why is no attempt made to narrow the discount?
Re: Anyone? I have also been in TEM since early 90s adding monthly Excellent long term performance and paid for several holidays and sofa with occasional disposal. Been rebuilding over the last few years. Like all em you need a long term view to keep going between the peaks - then it is an excellent vehicle and good diversification Az
Re: Anyone? Been in this for 20 years via a regular monthly investment.Been an outstanding performer over this time, sold a load a few years back to pay for a loft conversion. One to keep investing monthly, take advantage of pound cost averaging, tuck away and smile every so often when you check in on what you've got.
Re: Anyone? I've been a holder of this fund for over 6 years. It has been a bumpy ride, but has returned around 7%pa over that period which is satisfactory for me.EMs have been in vogue for a while now and so I'd expect most EM ITs to be doing pretty well, but when I selected this fund I felt it was the best for my needs and over the years I have not had a compelling reason to switch or sell (I have been close a couple of times, though!)Regards,
Anyone? Anyone interested in this ?Chart shows a consistent rise over the last few months.Yours Emergentlyvb6
