If we hold to the end and gain only Newfield shares, how can we then convert these to cash if we don't have a broker (e.g. Barclays Smart Investor) which will hold such shares? Would we have to wait for paper certificates and find another broker to buy them - don't want to pay another broker; although I do still use III's trading facilities who may help I guess... any ideas apart from selling once the deal is announced - with the risk that STEL's shares may then be suspended and the STEL price may not fully rise to the offer price (worth in Newfield shares)?Of course, we have not yet had the Corporate Action notification assuming the bid will formally be made soon given all the current transactions going through.

Re: Illogical also illogical is since 2008 aim shares rarely climb steadilygood new used to be a rise then a plateu then more news a rise etc etcnow good news sold into after day1 some shares even finish lower on that news day .never recovered from that crashmost share charts of small cap miners and oilies mirror the same graphmadness

Illogical Does anyone understand how the current sp of less than half the buy out offer price makes any sense? The logic is that the market assumes there is less than 50% chance of it taking place. Can't surely be right so it does look like free money!

The suspension is almost certainly due to the pending Rights Issue; which has to go through successfully to fund the planned STEL mine development after the take-over with payment in Newfield shares.This won't cause any suspension of STEL shares, but there will be a big drop in the STEL share price if the Rights Issue fails and there should be a big jump if (as is likely with prior verbal agreements) the Rights Issue is sufficient for the merger - better if the Newfield share price holds up well after the Rights Issue, i.e. value the STEL mines quite highly.I still hope that Newfield will also announce that they will also then list in the UK as well post the merger...
