Re: Someone knows something Whether someone knows something or not, I wish the SP would stop going up and down like a damn yo-yo - it's not at all good for my blood pressure!
Re: Someone knows something Yep, think you got that right - bit too sensitive with my AIM stuff!
Re: Someone knows something As the White Queen in Alice in Wonderland said "The rule is, jam to-morrow and jam yesterday but never jam to-day."
Re: Someone knows something I don't think anybody did know anything otherwise they wouldn't have bought. Just shows that often it pays to be patient and wait for news(good or bad).
Re: Someone knows something Pre close trading statement out this morning - so maybe someone did know something - that the announcement was coming out today; but that is not price sensitive information, unless they knew the content; so I think all conspiracy theories can be ignored. As for the actual announcement - disappointing and it may cause the share price to fall, "First half revenues were derived almost exclusively from the core business of individual vessel transceiver shipments."But, "During the period there was material progress with several projects which will result in the completion of significant project deliverables in the second half." So the 2nd half is looking a little better.
Re: Someone knows something Quepassyou could be right. Then again, traders will have done very well here recently and there has been a sell off just ahead of the end of their first half, as they are probably happy to bank their gains without sweating over the first half outcome. And the gains the last 2 days could be traders again, but the more optimistic types, taking positions ahead of an update (which we had about this time last year).
Re: Someone knows something Hats off to Mr T. for quick replyBasically 'no comment'!Still find it hard to agree with responses so far. This share has continually in the past risen only on news, but very definitely drifts back down a fair way afterwards. Even though there of course ups and downs, 7.5% and nearly 10% rise early doors in one day is very unusual with this share IMO, of course. Still let's wait and see.
Re: Someone knows something Agreed. The weakness in the pound is another, major, factor as in general we trade in dollars. What's a $100m contract worth now?
Re: Someone knows something What about the speedy drop over the last few weeks, the rise today, only reflects some daily drops in that time. Low volumes can move this share, and it's mainly Joe Public trading, not more cautious institutions. However you could be right, and I hope there is good news on its way. It was expected imminently at the AGM which was 3 months ago, so it's over due.A lot of employees and ex employees are shareholders, and employees will know things and many ex employees keep their fingers on the pulse of what is happening. If ex employees get a whiff, it's probably not really dodgy dealing, even if in its strictest sense it is.
Re: Someone knows something Email sent to SRT asking for their view on sudden rise - will post their reply, when I get it
Someone knows something As I write price has now gone up 9%?????Time the authorities got to grip!!
Someone knows something After drifting down for weeks as usual on lack of news, suddenly we have a 6.5% rise on no news whatsoever. Don't tell me this market ain't bent - someone knows something that is not on general release!
Channel monitoring One would hope that with all the recent news coverage of the open house on the south coast for people smugglers, that SRT would be promoting themselves as a important tool in countering these parasites.
Re: What's going on? No I don't think you've missed anything. It's just market fluctuations and probably the patience of traders. At the end of June a couple of significant contracts were announced, and the AGM was very upbeat about the future, but the board were keen to stress that although they expected some large contracts to be awarded in the foreseeable future, they were not going to predict any timescales (& if you've ever done business in some of the emerging markets, that is perfectly understandable.) The share price shot up - on the expectation of future earnings, not on anything concrete. Nothing significant has been announced since then, and the share price has slowly slid down, presumably as traders lose patience and investors have invested all they are going to for the time being. On historic figures this is still way over priced, so the longer no significant news is announced, the lower the share price is likely to drift. We are likely to get a trading update, ahead of the interims, early next month, which may provide a clearer picture.
What's going on? SRT has taken a battering over the past week or so, but there's no obvious reason for it, at least to me. Is this just profit taking and a slow market, or is there something else that I've missed?
