Re: Rights issue dead line date. You've missed the ex date, which was 31st March. That was the only date I noted. Have a look at their website.

Re: So confused? "can i sell these now should i wish , at NO COST TO ME ?"I've never sold Rights Issues, so I'm not sure if dealing costs are different from selling shares; but there will be dealing costs for sure. Yes you can sell the Right now.

So confused? My portfolio showing my original shares at 40p something less than I paid, now also showing same new rights issues for same qty AT 40P something - can i sell these now should i wish , at NO COST TO ME ?

Re: Rights issue???? WSIK, "why is my account here showing their value at 40p?"Also the rights themselves are tradable. You can sell them rather than take them up, so they too have a value.

Re: Rights issue???? "So how does the timing work? One can buy shares at market price and be entitled to take up rights at 101p up until what date? "The day before yesterday.

Re: Rights issue???? So how does the timing work? One can buy shares at market price and be entitled to take up rights at 101p up until what date? What's the market likely to do as we get closer? Why did the share price fall 16% earlier this week?

Re: Rights issue???? nk & reliableinfoThat makes a bit more sense, many thanks.

Re: Rights issue???? WSIK,You probably have Nil Paid shares credited to your account. 40p is the difference between the current price of Serco Ordinary Fully Paid share and the 101p that you will pay if you decide to take up your rights shares offered (which will convert the Nil Paid to Fully Paid).Hope this helps.nk

Re: Rights issue???? The right Issue is like an option so the price is usually slightly above the difference between the Rights Issue price and the current price of the share in the open market to take into account the slightly different risk/return profile

Re: Rights issue???? Same envelope dropped through mine too. There is a 2nd point that confuses this Simpleton, if anyone could explain I would appreciate it. If the offer is to buy the new shares at £1 mid Apr, then why is my account here showing their value at 40p?

batteryman15 31 Mar 2015

Rights issue???? I have gained and lost money in various rights issues over the years but what happened to Railtrack, British Energy and especially Bradford and Bingley leave a bad taste in my mouth! So I don't know if this is worth a punt? But what is confusing is the envelope that dropped through my letter box today???It was simply a form (and a quite confusing one at that) and a pre-paid reply envelope. No prospectus or accompanying letter??? No explanation, guidance notes or choices. Nothing! Just the form and pre-paid envelope. So.A bit of reading the small print required as it is not even obvious how to fill the form in!Should I have received an info pack that has not been put in the envelope by mistake???Who knows?. But very poor communication!Happy Easter!

Goodbye Serco [link] think if they go below £1 they will go bust . I have said all along they will , because there has been a massive accounting scandal , similar to Tesco yet they are not admitting it fully. Its very difficult to recover from Revenue Recognition overstatement. To quote Mr Soames the " Higher Alchemy of accounting" has hidden the true loss making nature of this business. They have had or are getting £1bn in cash from rights issues and they are still burning it. They can't drop unprofitable contracts because they have years to run and penalties to pay. You might make some money in a small increase following this drop , but long term the contracts need to be exited and the only way to do that is to go bust.
