Results are ahead of expectations.... Terrific results once again ))27c EPS beats the 24.4c forecast by some margin - and is ahead of THIS year's 26.1c EPS forecast too. The 2017 forecast will presumably have to be lifted somewhat, to say 29c-30c EPS.And there's now a $20m+ cash pile )) That's almost 15% of the m/cap in itself. The 11.1c dividend is also a shade ahead of forecasts.Remarkable that two new products are already generating $10.6m of sales, only 2 years after development.Above all, the outlook statement is very, very positive, with a good start to 2017 in the USA and China also looking good. Overall:"The Board believes the Company is well-positioned to capitalize on the many opportunities we see across our portfolio of markets and products and we remain confident Somero is poised to deliver another year of profitable growth to our shareholders in 2017."

Not long until 15th March Look out for a news release on March 15th with results for the year, hopefully confirmation of the long term increase in divi % payout and maybe even a special divi payable sometime in 2017 as per the trading statement issued on 17th January.

Re: SOM noted as takeover target You may need a subscription to access. Somero is mentioned, one of 3 in a list of Capital Goods.I have often thought that Somero would be a good acquisition for a larger US based Company but hope it will not happen for a while.

Re: SOM noted as takeover target I dongt see Somero mentioned. Do you have a list of the companies Cannaccord mentioned please?

gretel 28 Feb 2017

SOM noted as takeover target Per The Times yesterday, an article lists according to Canaccord those UK-listed companies most likely to be a takeover target for predators post-Brexit - and SOM is one of them:[link]

Goiod news from Trump for SOM Looks like good news for SOM from The Donald last night:[link] Stocks Climb as Trump Pledges to Spend 'Big' by Luke Kawaý27ý ýFebruaryý ý2017ý ý15ý:ý58President Donald Trump breathed some life back into beaten-down stocks that have been seen as benefiting from higher spending on highways and bridges, promising to spend "on infrastructure big."Construction materials and steel makers are among the best-performing industries on the S&P 500 on Monday, with a basket of infrastructure-linked stocks compiled by Bespoke Investment Group climbing more than 3 percent.... ....There is "no choice" but to spend on infrastructure, Trump said in remarks made in Washington before his address to Congress on Tuesday."

Re: I'm In I'm also a prize Wally! When doing my analysis of the company's results I was looking at the iii fundamentals page; and checked a couple of times that the figures were in fact GBP. Having committed to the purchase I've rechecked, and the figures I've been using are US$, which of course makes everything look around 20% less good. I should have known better as I have often noticed iii fundamental figures are given in £ when they are actually in the reported currency. I've written to iii to encourage them to correct their error. From an investment point of view it still stands up. The growth is still the same rate, and the fundamentals still look good; so although I'm going to stand in a corner with my dunce's hat on for the rest of the day, I'm pleased with my purchase.

I'm In Thank you all for your feedback and comments. I am still a little uneasy as to why a US based business with over 75% of its business in the US chooses to list on AIM, but I've bitten the bullet & stuck some of my cash into them. The Recent performance and the latest trading update in particular, together with the fact that if they have market leading equipment in the business of laying concrete bases, and the US probably entering a period of building infrastructure (not to mention overseas opportunities) + your useful comments has helped me. I have a policy of not investing in AIM stocks UNLESS there is a substantial corporate share holding. This certainly ticks that box

Re: Why UK Paul Scott is a huge fan of Somero and has featured it a number of times in his column on stockopedia: [link] often interviews the management of small companies he is interested in and lists them on his website - here is a link to the Somero interview: [link] remember that he did raise the question about the reason for the Aim listing and if I remember correctly the answer was indeed that there was an IPO by a UK based private equity firm onto the Aim market and Somero's management have been very happy with AIM and see no reason to list in the US.There are issues with Aim regulation with a number of fraudulent Chinese based companies being flagged by Tom Winnifrith. ACHL is one such company which if I remember correctly TW believes is fraudulent.

Re: Why UK I did once own an Aim listed Company based in Hong Kong, (Asian Citrus) who I think, in retrospect chose Aim because it was little regulated and the Owner directors got to visit London for the AGM.I,ve been a shareholder in Somo for a couple of years now. Before investing I was also curious as to why it was listed on AIM. I never resolved that question. But I did do quite a lot of due diligence including looking at the major shareholders. There are a list of strong well known U.K. Institutional shareholders there which gave me confidence re the Company. If you do invest best to do it in a way that allows the divis to be paid in dollars. In an ISA you are likely to get a poor exchange rate.sm

Re: Why UK Thanks, Gents, I've had a quick skip through the listing document; and the only thing I could find was they said listing in the UK would help them raise their profile in the UK & Europe. Maybe that's true, but there are many other, less complex ways of doing that. Logic tells me a US based company with the majority of its revenue raised in the US would naturally list in the US. This concerns me. Other than that this looks a really good investment case. I'm always wary of AIM companies, specially if their is something which seems illogical in their set up, but am reassured by the very strong corporate share holding - Artemis, Hargreaves Hale, Unicorn,. Henderson, Black Rock, Lazard, Jupiter all have sizeable holdings. And of course, any company with its UK base in Derbyshire wins my approval.

Tipped as a "Dividend Growth Champion" [link] Enterprises Inc. (AIM:SOM) With a strong finish to 2016 the US based manufacturer of laser-guided machinery used in concrete placement recently reported that revenue for the full year and net cash at the year-end was ahead of market expectations. This saw the company lift the full year dividend 50% to 11 cents (8.7p) equating to a historic yield of 3.4%. The business has invested significantly in previous years and with the market for its products looking very supportive, notably in the US, the cash should continue to build with the potential for further meaningful increases in the dividend."

Re: Why UK From memory when I saw them present, they were previously advised/owned by UK venture capital, and SOM were therefore guided towards an AIM listing since AIM was seen as an appropriate and successful market for their size of company.I remember the Chairman joked that he had never even heard of AIM until that point! The management came across as entirely professional and competent - knowledgeable "old industry hands" in charge of a company introducing new technology and obtaining a dominant global market share.

Why UK I've just discovered this baby, and am trying to do a thorough search. Can anyone tell me why they listed in the UK?

Re: Two more tips for SOM )) Just joined the club. Read Midas report about SOM and could not understand why I hadn't come across this share before. I don't think I've come across a more laid back successful company in my past 40 years of share dealing.Good luck to all, .
