Re: Very quiet here Meanwhile down down down – almost 50% in 12 months – does not seem as well-managed as I had hoped

Re: Added Feel the same way about Aviva which has also been thumped? They put out a convincing defensive RNS on Friday last.

Added I'm looking for good divi. payers as I approach retirement. Cannot see interest rates going anywhere other than down in the short to medium term so added some more to my holding. I believe Std Life to be well managed and think the sell down is overstated.I'm in for the long run anyway.

Re: Adding HiThis is one I used to trade a lot ages ago, then left it alone. My thoughts are that it has been knocked down a little too much which is not to say it won`t drop lower still.Seems a sound company with a decent and consistent dividend.I`ve entered long derivative but as I have no wish to clog up this board with a series of trades, not commenting on entry.Just feel that there is potential here for the patient. If of interest on a technical basis there is an unfilled gap @ 308.8 or so.Quite possibly won`t get filled, especially so if the upcoming ref. vote is Remain.GLsoi

Re: Adding I've also added via a long term limit order - so long term I can't remember what price I set!I think it may have been @300p but not in a secure situation to log into my account proper to check as yet.SL have lots of assets under management in Europe, but so do many US companies. I don't think Brexit will make too much difference to the bottom line . Yield very good at these sp levels.

Re: Drip feed They are shown on the SL shareportal as from yesterday (15 June). It always takes three to four weeks from the dividend payment date until they show. This is because they buy them in tranches at different prices over a period of days then allocate them all at the average price they bought them for - sometimes you gain, sometimes you lose, compared to the actual price on the dividend payment date. In my experience you usually lose!!! You will eventually get a letter from SL detailing the amount of dividend you received, how many shares have been allocated, the price at which they were bought for and your new total holding.

Re: Drip feed Hmm I hold mine through the SL share portal. Does any one know why it has taken so long between the 24th May div payment date and DRIP shares being credited to the account?I asked the question through the site but got no response.

Adding Small amounts with these declines.A Leave vote or further equity declines may see this lower, however risk/reward longer term looks ok.Can't click a buy with current volatility and the referendum looming large, will add a few more under £3 if available, which may be tomorrow! All IMV only, as always DYOR.

Re: Endownment policy payouts? I have been adding small amounts just FWIW, as taking a longer term view. However in terms of overall positioning currently heavily in cash, that may prove to be overly cautious and costly, and my current cash % alsocosts me lost dividend income. As you rightly point out SL is a diverse and global business, they will hopefullythrive in any environment. If we vote out I am looking for the UKX (ftse100) to trade around the 5500 level.

Re: Endownment policy payouts? Extremely difficult to tell the size of the EU business as SL tend to break down accounts by product divisions and where these are broken down geographically it often lumps Europe and UK together. I suppose that tells a story right there.Approx 2/3rds of inflow from outside the UK, including all 50 states of USA, Europe, Asia Pacific and Emerging Markets, and India. Europe appears to be a fair proportion of that, but the diversity is wider than I thought it was, especially after selling the Canadian business.Any overall impact from a possible EU exit should be cushioned by the global diversity of SL. I would expect them to negotiate around any legal changes a brexit might bring, they certainly have plenty of experience working outside the EU, presumably under WTO rules, which I assume will become the UK's default position with the EU should brexit occur and no specific agreements are in place prior to the two year transition period.
