Re: MERGER SKP and VEC are my two biggest pharma holdings, nearly my only ones currently and this number is halved by the merger. I am not so sure about this as it simply diminishes my interest a little in the sector - took me a while to settle on these two as my investments in pharma - how dare they merge! Just out of interest if SKP keeps heading north and outstripping VEC is there not as point where the 2.79 Vec shares becomes financially less valued, and you might as well sell SKP on the SP lift, should it continue?Say SKP gets to £4.50 - 2.79 VEC shares is not as interesting @ 1.55 £4.32 equivalent.Am I missing something. I was thinking as long as they both keep rising I am smiling wider?Tha

Re: MERGER I hope Numismatic are right Raptor as 271 for Vec makes about 760 for Skp ,which would make me very happy.if the merger won't finalise until q3 there will be further results from Vec & Skp,the potential for further deal news & the possibility of IIs wanting to build a position buying in ahead of the merger & Ftse 250-all of which should moving the value of the deal North.SKP is currently my biggest shareholding & having thought further about the merger I am increasingly comfortable with taking 100% Vec shares & no cash.

Re: MERGER I am not so sure as to why the merger needs to splash £70 millions cash when all paper merger is feasible?Cash could be spent on R&D and even use it to get back into injectables. ---------- ---------- -4th February 2016 Numis today reaffirms its buy investment rating on Vectura Group PLC (LON:VEC) and set its price target at 271p.----this might be achievable sooner after the merger, imo.

Re: MERGER I believe my response was as follow:Merger of equals would be good as the synergies may bring the running / R&D costs down.

And don't forget There should be results coming from the Vectura/Ablynx link-up in this quarter in other words probably soon...Ambiorix.

Re: MERGER Hello Raptor,Remember our discussion in feb 2014 (go back to our postings from that period). How close we were then. I asked you if a merger with Vectura would make sense...Anyway I hold a large chunk of VEC but also of HBM. I bet HBM will return some capital back to her shareholders as HBM did in 2015 : nicer than a dividend since free of any charge.Ambiorix.

Re: Peter Grant Hi DaveI am of the same view in terms of holding my SKP and taking the VEC shares with no cash. I am glad that I bought back in a month ago having been out of SKP for around nine months since the Greek situation, as I had sold pretty much all my shares at that time because I thought it was just possible that the Greek people had had enough and would exit. It was a close thing, but in the end I increased my holdings when buying back in most shares as I was able to pick them up lower than I had sold, other than SKP of course, but am content with the current situation as I think we have a way to go yet.dkok

Re: Peter Grant Good point Dkok & I have benefited previously from similar situations.I increased my holding here last week at about 380p & have a large holding ( for me) & bought a few Vec yesterday on the Rns (at about 150p).If the investing industry understands the rationale for the deal & our new CEO has the industry respect inferred by his biography this could still produce an excellent outcome for us.A Vec SP of 200p sees us at 560p which is more than we may have hoped for short term.My initial view is to hold all my Skp & take Vec paper & no cash.

Re: Peter Grant Hi DaveI agree, it is a shame that he will not be involved within the merged company as I also think he has done a sterling job at SKP.On the shareprice, it seems that VEC is starting to get a lift as a result of the merger announcement and currently as I type, the equivalent SKP price is now close to 440p, so technically there is and arbitrage opportunity should anyone wish to do so. It would currently certainly be worth buying more SKP in order to get the VEC shares in the merger as it currently stands.dkok

Peter Grant It will be interesting to see if he emerges as CEO somewhere else,or whether he is "retiring" & goes the Non Exec route. If he does emerge as CEO at a listed company I would certainly consider backing him for the turnaround achieved here .There are a couple of jobs I would like to put him forward for too.

Another RNS AllI see that the mystery of where the large tranches of shares that were being sold down over the last few weeks is now resolved as Vectura were the purchasers according to the latest RNS notification, though it doesn't bode well that the person making the notification can't even get the name of their own company right!! VECTRA Group Plc!! maybe try VECTURA!On a positive note, if we take up the offer I see that the market is currently valuing the Vectura shares with SKP incorporated at an equivalent SKP share price of 418.5p, so it is starting to look a little more positive. There are some major institutional holders of Vectura, and the broker forecast targets average around a 90% increase from current share price, so it will be interesting to see what they make of the deal and what their revised targets are, as the enlarged group will have more fire power and more potential.GLTAdkok

merger Hi Dave297 VEC have no block buster treatments of their own ,but do receive royalties and percentage revenues, from many big products that they have developed for other big named pharma’s ,including Novartis ,GSK, Sanofi and Sandoz ,they also have agreements with other including their own joint development agreement with Tianjin KingYork Group ,VEC as you know they also manufacture delivery systems, see the full list here, plus there profit and loss . www.iii.co.uk/research/LSE:VEC/news/item/1726267/strong-results-driven-67-increase-royalties?context=LSE:VEC BE HAPPYDAVE

Re: RNS Dkok-we are singing from the same song sheet in that our SP had the potential to re rate to 450p + following fantastic results & with a decent media/industry following, instead of which our fortunes are now tied to the SP of VEC.I do not yet know enough about VEC or its potential & perhaps some of their recent deals will result in exponential growth for them including the possibility of their own "blockbuster".I generally take a long term view & if I decide to take Vec shares I will be looking at the longer term .Right now & admittedly without much knowledge of Vec,I feel that we have been sold short in that we end up with under 40% of the enlarged group( we know HBM will take their 15% cash entitlement)whereas I would have hoped for 50/50 or better.DG-I take your point with BTG & my experience is similar with Biocompatibles, although I did sell 75% of my stake between £7& £8 I still retain a decent 5 fig amount.Recently I had a similar experience when GVC acquired Bwin in a reverse takeover.I held GVC & bought Bwin on the RNS & both have done well since so I appreciate the potential .The Boards supporting the deal is not particularly relevant to me as non of them hold a decent number of shares despite their high salaries so it is the view of HBM & other IIs that I consider more valid. Some IIs have been reducing their exposure in SKP recently which makes me question whether this merger has been known about in the industry for some time.If I take Vec shares & the SP hits £10 in 2/3 years I will probably stop moaning !!Good luck all.
