Re: Motley's view What gets me is that they posted one of the most upbeat trading statements I think I have seen, making loads of cash and bright near future prospects and what happens?Instead of a nice share price rise it collapses even further than it already had trading at multi year lows with no sign of the slide stopping.Imagine if the results had not been good...

Motley's view For what it's worth.2 FTSE 100 growth stocks trading at super-low valuationsSHIRE & WPPShares of Shire (LSE: SHP) jumped 4% higher on the release of its half-year results at noon today. The FTSE 100 pharma group reported a strong Q2 performance and upgraded its earnings guidance for the full year. This is a stock I’ve had earmarked as seriously undervalued for some time. The price has retreated to 4,200p since the initial spike and I continue to view it as a dirt-cheap buy.Strong long-term prospectsShire catapulted itself into the position of world leader in rare diseases with its $32bn acquisition of US firm Baxalta in June last year. Today’s results show the merger is already bearing richer fruit than anticipated. Shire has over-delivered on first-year integration cost synergies, recognising $400m versus its $300m target and putting it ahead of schedule to deliver at least $700m by year three. The company advised that the first-half performance was driven by significant contributions across its broad and diverse portfolio. And with the strength and scale of the enlarged group, I’m not surprised that Flemming Ornskov commented that the board is “very confident about Shire’s long-term prospects.”The group’s rare disease and neuroscience businesses are both performing strongly and each has significant growth potential over the coming years. In fact, management is evaluating strategic options for the neuroscience franchise, including the potential for its independent public listing. It expects to complete this evaluation by year-end.Generous valuationToday’s updated guidance on full-year earnings increased the mid-range point for diluted earnings per American Depositary Share (ADS) to $15 from $14.90. Each ADS is equivalent to three ordinary shares, so we’re looking at ordinary earnings per share (EPS) of $5, or 379p at current exchange rates. The price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio is 11.1. This looks far too generous to me for a company with Shire’s long-term growth credentials.[link]

Re: Shire news Have you read the recent statement?.To me a multi year strategy was outlined in a lot of detail. Appreciate others may view that differently.Would click a Strong Buy, however with wider market uncertainty that maybe a tad premature..

Re: Shire news A very strange stock this. I have no real feeling for the management, the direction, the threats and whether they really know what they are doing at all. It feels like a small company with a large company valuation. I am continuing to hold but really just in the expectation that it will be taken out by a larger pharma ..

Re: Shire news Bought today .. a sensible one lol

Re: Falling like a stone I was thinking the same but to be honest all the other stuff I trade are too expensive at the moment .rio,Anglo etc so as the company only reports good news and is making a bucket load of cash I'm going to hold or may even add and damm the consequences.Very strange share indeed

Re: Falling like a stone Hard to know where to call the bottom on this. Surely even on a medium term view this is grossly undervalued at the moment taking everything into account. I'm struck by how much of a bargain this is now yet I'm simultaneously thinking of cutting my losses.Approaching the level where it becomes so cheap that it's madness for rivals not to launch a bid?

Re: Falling like a stone Think this is the problem:"Beaufort Securities today downgrades its investment rating on Shire PLC (LON:SHP) to long term buy (from buy) and cut its price target to 4900p (from 6200p)."CFD long opened 4025.M

Support levels If you study the charts closely it is not too difficult to calculate support levels. For instance there was a decent bounce off 3956-3957p today. Next level after should it get there would be 3877p.We are already at 12 month lows on the back of a very low P/E of 10-11, an upgrade in EPS and Profits so go figure.RSI also in over-sold territory

Re: Falling like a stone Agree...This looks like a company thats going down the tubes which is not the case(I think)I'd be raging if I had bought on the advice of all the brokers tipping it.Surely the company has to issue something with regards to such massive falls day in day out....Anyone fancy predicting the bottom ...£30?

Re: Falling like a stone Part of the problem will be that I've just bought a few at just over 4000

Re: Falling like a stone There is something seriously wrong here, yet it hasn't come out in the press or any RNS.The swing is from 4400 down to 3975 and it's still falling.Games --- grrrrr - what seemed such an undervalued stock has put me well under value!

EssentialInvestor 04 Aug 2017

Re: Falling like a stone I've had a few.Usually I buy 2 days too early, nearly every time, not intentionally!.When media stories surface about renewed bid speculation, the cynic in me thinks .. someone has a large line of stock to get rid.
