Herald Loch Lomond mine 'could start producing Scottish gold within months'It's one of Scotland's prized beauty spots and now Loch Lomond could be about to deliver another, more tangible treasure... gold.Scotgold Resources has announced plans to begin an ore processing trial on the bonny banks after spending almost a decade developing a gold mine in the scenic surroundings. The Australian company said it ready to begin processing 2,400 tons of ore taken from its Cononish mine in Tyndrum. The mine could start producing Scottish gold within months if the plans are approved. The project has already attracted the attention of high-end jewellers.Scotgold began working on creating a commercially viable mine at Tyndrum eight years ago, with the company conducting a number of feasibility studies and securing relevant planning permission during this period.Richard Gray, chief executive of ScotGold, told The Independent: "The significance of what we're doing now is that we'll actually have some trial equipment up oon site taking some of the ore, the gold-bearing material, and we're going to produce some gold. It's a huge step because we're at last now doing something tangible."The company said it hopes to get around 500oz out of the mine during the trial and plans to sell a 'significant quantity' to Scottish jewellers. It hopes to produce 23,000oz per year if the mine enters full production. It's understood the first Scottish gold could be produced as early as May.News of the trial comes weeks after scientists revealed that tiny specks of gold have been found in rocks on Millport.

Approximately 2,400t of the stockpile containing an estimated 7,000t at a grade of 7.9g/t Au and 39g/t Ag will be processed over a six-month trial period. Early discussions indicate that the Scottish mined gold produced from the trial can be sold at a significant premium. Results and experience gained from the BPT will allow the Company to investigate whether a phased mine development, would achieve higher returns to shareholders and lower peak funding. Re: Potential here Wonder what's up with the metals markets they've all been on shut down for the past 2 hrs. I wouldn't mind panning for gold. Was it some where near Dumfries where there was supposed to be a nugget as big as a horses head waiting to be found ? M'mmm sounds like another Loch Ness Monster story.
Re: Potential here Considering the stella rise in gold price this last week I think today was a good healthy correction, you may have noticed the price was not allowed to get near support of 1200, I will be finger on the trigger at market open tomorrow! For what it is worth here is a short summary on today's markets:[link]
Re: Potential here horaceanddorismorris Looking at todays price of £837 it may be worth considering that figure is £149 per ounce above the figure of £688 used in the BFS which provides £43.4 million of pre tax cash flow !That is for 23,370 ounces per annum with an extra £149 on them which = £3,482,130 extra per year or £27,857,040 extra over an 8 year LOM which will take the free cash flow over £71 millionLarry-the-rockIf it comes to it I will meet you up there with a shovel and a pick and a crusher, we will take it off site and process it and we will still make money. For what its worth I don't think it will come to it . Presentation soon on home soil on the 25th so hopefully some news before then or on the day
Re: Potential here Looking at the PoG today, Larry, you may be too late!
