Re: Silence !! Maybe I just misjudged the buy in point by £1. Whoops....!

Re: Silence !! This one is on my watchlist. Too early to buy yet as I feel there's more disappointing news to come over the next few months which will depress thew sp further from here.. I can see the sp down to £2 possibly, and if it did get there I'd buy in substantially. But this will undoubtedly be a good recovery play in the future.

Re: Silence !! Thanks to MJS1234, Hardboy and Son of a Tiger for breaking the wall of silence on this board. The good old HMRC spoil the party yet again !

Re: Silence !! From BBC Business Live section:Shares in Stagecoach, the rail and bus operator, have fallen 5.3% following an HSBC downgrade from "hold" to "reduce". The company runs East Midlands Trains and operates the East Coast and West Coast rail franchises in partnership with Virgin. It also has bus operations in cities including London, Liverpool, Newcastle, Manchester, Sheffield and Cambridge as well as Megabus long-distance coaches in North America, Europe and the UK. Earlier in the month it lost an £11m legal battle over a scheme that HM Revenue & Customs described as "clear tax avoidance".

Re: Silence !! Yes - always worrying when a share price makes a big price move with no obvious reason. I don't know any reason for today's drop. The latest specific news we have is the Trading update 2 weeks ago. This said: -"Financial performanceOur expectation of the Group's adjusted earnings per share for the year ending 30 April 2016 has not significantly changed from when we announced our half year results in December 2015. Consistent with the trends we reported in December, revenue growth in our UK Bus (regional operations) and UK Rail businesses in the second half of the financial year has been lower than was experienced in the first half. As we anticipated, second half revenue in North America is benefiting from new contract wins.Like-for-like revenue growth for the financial year to date in each of the Group's main businesses is provided below.UK Bus (regional operations) 0.7% UK Bus (London) 1.3%UK Rail (excluding Virgin Trains East Coast) 4.6% North America (4.4)% Virgin Rail Group 6.6% Although we continue to operate in a more challenging environment, we remain on track to meet our expectations for the year."So it's steadyish as it goes, and of course they should be benefitting from lower fuel prices, so one would hope profits will be up more than sales.

Re: Silence !! Well i'll break the silence. Been watching this for sometime. SWTrains franchise is up for grabs an as I understand First Group has set up a new company, First South West who are preferred bidders with Stagecoach, the current incumbent. Their recently introduced FALCON SOUTH WEST service is a turn up and go express service between Plymouth and Bristol Centre BUT calling at Newton Abbot, Exeter, Taunton, Bristol Airport terminating at Bristols main shopping BUT at the listed towns en route it does not serve the town centres but the out of town Park and Rides. So popular at the moment, (a new broom sweeps clean syndrome ?) that I have heard that on occasions intending passengers have been turned away. This service, if it remains will provide a useful link to Bristol Airport from the South West as previously the other option was travel to Bristool and get the Airport Shuttle at £7 per single journey, no returns.

Silence !! This being a very quiet discussion board I was wondering about the sudden drop this morning with no news and nothing on this board......any ideas what is going on ?Having topped up when they dipped under £3.00 I am now starting to be concerned.

Re: Waiting for £2 then I'll buy Reading all the comments about Stagecoach, many very negative, the consensus seems to be for a FY EPS of around 27p (which is an increase on last year) - so you are expecting them to fall to a PE of around 7.5. Good luck with that. I'll just pop down to the local pig farm and look skywards.

market reaction Totally overblown Nothing else to add i'm afraid. The market is a law to itself I have been in SGC for years Great company. Stick with Soapy and his crew. Toot Toot

Hardboy 10 Dec 2015

Re: Market reaction Yes the cautious outlook statement could be interpreted as a profit warning; but if the directors thought things were going to be as bad as the market's reaction suggests, would they have hiked the dividend by over 9%?
