Re: SGC My view Hi Soi,Hope all is well.I'M a bit of a fraud really don't understand charts at all, gaps being filled are beyond me.However where I do think they are useful is that they do provide a history of the ongoing battle between buying and selling. If the price has declined, stabalised and is now on an upward trend and somebody wants to call it a "cup and handle", well that's fine by me.Good to see you cleaning up on VOD.M
Re: SGC My view Good MorningHi SMYou`ve a nice entry at 213 IMO, good.I was nearly going to enter SB long at 216 yesterday.Looking at charts, good support at 200 and also about 196 should it happen to fall.On the upside, an unfilled gap at 248, created this June.Gaps don`t always get filled but if the sp carries on up, the chances of it happening increase.ATB & GLsoi
Re: SGC My view And SGC now well above a selection of moving averages, volume also steadily increasing.
Re: SGC My view "Must confess had been tracking foe some time and SGC appears to have bottomed. Bill's interest here settled any doubts."Yes, I am a relatively recent holder - though not timed particularly well, given Brexit, so I am still out of the money, though only just now.A number of operational headwinds at the moment, but the business seems pretty resilient. And the valuation profile seems to reflect something notably worse... the free cash flow figures have been particularly compelling, even if it won't look quite so good this year given a likely (modest) earnings downturn and relatively heavier investment.PR is right, lower fuel prices have been seen as a negative - counter-intuitive as it may be. I think it's more an issue with their US biz, given the higher sensitivity there to a lower Oil price (due to lower tax/duty etc). And public transport is a particularly politically sensitive area back at home at the moment, which can always spook people and keep investors on the sidelines. But this tends to go in cycles, and ultimately trains and buses are here to stay - and all the evidence is that SGC is still a comparatively canny operator across the board. They are also no slouches when it comes to cutting costs when required... they've recently slashed my (only) local bus service from hourly buses to a mere couple a day. I suppose I shouldn't complain.... The numbers continue to spell a return to good long term performance from around these levels - though I would imagine there'll be cyclical good times and bad on a number of counts.
Re: SGC My view EOSThanks for that greeting, and hope all your investments are going well for you. Me and FTO being in China and all that, I don't have the hopes and dreams here that I had with FTO. (which I think we would have realised if not for a greedy BOD).The nearest that I have that I can think of is GFM (also operates in China). I also have ORM, that I have hopes for, but think they are a bit of a gamble, one or two (or more), other lame dog AIM stocks that aren't worth mentioning or selling, but I am mainly in FTSE100 Blue chips now. e.g. HSBA, RDSB, GSK, LLOY, LGEN, ULVR, NG etc (18 stocks in my folio at pres.), but can't see any that might multi-bag.Best wishes to you also
Re: SGC My view Phillip, good to see that you are still involved. Is SGC the new FTO ? Best wishes TEOS.
Re: SGC My view Phillip.Interesting one that, you would have thought that lower fuel cost's would favor transport companies. Those gallons of diesel must cost Stagecoach a packet. But of course the Great British public is not as environmentally friendly as the Green lobby would have us believe. They simply vote with their wallet and take the car for convenience and cost. Now if someone could explain to them that we don't like green taxes either, that would be progress.M
Re: SGC My view S mThe trend is your friend and the trend here seems to be back up, IMO from an oversold position. I got back in too early but have topped up a couple of times, the last time being last week I think the fear was that the price of petrol/fuel had dropped and that more people would be finding that it would be cheaper (maybe relative to convenience), to use private vehicles than public transport. So apart from my thinking that it has a nice divdend and is oversold, the price of oil is rising, perhaps a little hesitantly, but should be reversing the market sentiment. All IMHONow that will put the mockers on any further rise LOLRegards
Re: SGC My view Soi,Now there's a rare thing. Got in ahead of you Long CFD at £2.13 the other day.Must confess had been tracking foe some time and SGC appears to have bottomed. Bill's interest here settled any doubts.M
SGC My view HiI have nothing in this currently.Spent a bit of time looking through earlier results, basic fundamentals and a chart/TA view.Having done that I am mildly positive, feeling that although it could well drop back a bit more, there looks to be slightly more upside potential than downside.Looks a tad oversold to me.Patience may be required. My only concern really is that markets generally seem to be riding high, might go higher, might fall back a touch.Impossible to call that.I am more likely than not going to start a derivative long ( buy side ) trade in it.At what precise level unsure but maybe 215 ish or lower.Only my opinion and could be wrong.GL to current holders.soi
NEW ARTICLE: Stockwatch: Contrarians, accumulate this 6% yield now "Does a classic "bowl" shape on the chart of mid-cap public transport group LSE:SGC:Stagecoach signal good times ahead? Interims I scanned through them very quickly this morning and was not sure how the market would react - profit down, debt up, Pension Deficit increased; but some of the words were positive and raising an already healthy dividend by 9% shows the directors have confidence.
Finals Only had a quick glimpse, but they look sound enough and at the current sp the PE is 8 & the yield over 5%.
Re: £2 gone, might hit £1.50 Most shares except the large staple exporters (pharmas, drink, tobacco, healthcare, household goods etc.) and the odd $ related share (Shell e.g.) are getting pummelled, but will this be bad for Stagecoach?I'm not sure it should have much effect on their business and the contribution from the North American business will be increased. So maybe this could be a fairly secure haven for one's money.
