Needs to go higher (Part 2) Nothing to get too excited about yet - not even reached my target price so I'm sitting tight. Might start to take notice around £40, but I wouldn't be averse to holding ABInBev anyway.
Re: Sold more like mugged........In it till the end £44 3D
Sold 3952 - There's no fool like an old fool as they say.I'll have the float and build up on DGE.The price for SAB is ridiculous and I don't want to be a holder just in case the deal flops - although it looks pretty good for those left in.I may have left a few £ on the table but as I only bought at 16:20 yesterday and sold at 8:10AM it was a very profitable nights sleep, I'll treat it at as a dream and imagine it never happened and wonder about the pile of cash that just landed at my feet.Games -- Onward and upward - It's goodnight from me and goodnight from him (Sab Miller)
Re: Agreement in principle seems to be settling around the 3950 level and 43.5 may not become a reality for a while---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- --------Gamesinvestor, did you not read the RNS its 44 not 43.50. I think the bucket shops were not expecting this today.Right that me done here, off too me next lil beuty.....3D
Re: Agreement in principle Games,Well done, m8! If only my big bet on the BG/Shell deal going ahead had paid off as quickly as yours on SAB has done!Sounds a good idea to me to take your profit and recycle it into Diageo, but I'm talkin' my own book there, as a Diageo fan.LKH on the flybridge
Re: Still needs to go higher that were a good guess wen it Think I will sit tight and waits for the £44, only a fool would give the City the remaining 450pGood luck ya'll3D
Re: Agreement in principle "Small shareholders should make out like bandits"I'll probably take the profit today and invest the proceeds into topping up Diageo.seems to be settling around the 3950 level and 43.5 may not become a reality for a while, given that a formal offer is still not guaranteed, according to the blurb anyhow.Games - Who's got the luck of the Irish today!!
Re: Agreement in principle Games,"I think the deal is gonnae fall apart."Hmmm ... looks as if I got that one wrong LOL! Good luck with your purchase. As a shareholder in Diageo (20% beer) and Fuller Smith and Turner (98% beer and 2% cider) I sincerely hope that them Brazilian top boys have overreached themselves and will suffer from winner's curse. If I were a Santo Domingo (chance would be a fine thing) or any shareholder taking the partial share alternative I'd really worry that the five year lockup before I could sell my unlisted ABInBev shares would expose me to the full rigours of that winner's curse.Small shareholders should make out like bandits (unless the deal does fall through) given the remarkably big gap between the high cash price and the (relatively) low partial share alternative.Must examine how £44 a share compares with Diageo's share price.LKH on the flybridge
Agreement in principle [link] step closer.Be interesting to see how the stock reacts, hopefully up, as I took a leap of faith and bought some late yesterday.Games
Re: Failed bid is not in either parties ... Games,"The drift away from mass lagers in favour of speciality brewers is constant."Yeah, well that's what the punters say, innit, m8? But I reckon them speciality brewers are a bunch of amateurs. They've got no traction where it really counts ... in the area of big boy pants distribution and marketing.[link] won't get advertising like that from some micro brewery.LKH on the flybridge bellied up to the bar, Tiju
Re: Failed bid is not in either parties ... "I think the deal is gonnae fall apart."LK - It might but they'd be nuts to turn it down. The drift away from mass lagers in favour of speciality brewers is constant. They may never see this price again.I don't know about you but Bud is like making love in a canoe (it's fxxxing close to water), Peroni gives me a headache, every time I drink Stella I end up beating the wife and Miller is just about the most tasteless of beers one can imagine.Still all told they is all pretty successful, based on the historic revenue at least.Games
Re: Failed bid is not in either parties inte... Games,""We remain of the view that it is in neither ABI nor SABs interest for this proposed bid to fail""Hah! Who gives a flying monkeys about ABI or SAB's interest? What appears to matter is the interest of them Santo Domingo top boys and of the other shareholders who are desperate not to take cash because of the tax angle. It may also be the case that the Santo Domingos would much rather be big fishes in a small pool (ie sticking with SAB even if the share price falls when/if the deal collapses) rather than being small fishes in a big pool, especially one controlled by the Brazilian top boys. The latest deal does not raise the ante enough for the holdouts to be able to say "Look how much we got by being, erm, holdouts". ABInBev have raised the ante by a contemptibly small amount.I think the deal is gonnae fall apart.LKH on the flybridge
Re: Looks to me as if ... Games,"It's 2.87% of my pile at the moment, what you at?Diageo is 4.5% of my shrunken wad. Thinking of bigging up.LKH on the flybridge that should stimulate some buying of Diageo tomorrow
Failed bid is not in either parties interest!!! Investec Asset Management, urged the board to engage with InBev, more so if AB InBev came back with a better offer.Analysts at RBC expected to see both sides to actively engage before Wednesday when the deadline is reached. "We remain of the view that it is in neither ABI nor SABs interest for this proposed bid to fail"Games
Re: Looks to me as if ... "Mr Market is saying that the deal is not going to go through at £43.50"LK - It's pretty close to the suggested price, so it could go either way. I think they might play hard ball and use it as a talking point. In which case - see you in 6 months after Wednesday.Might big up more on Diageo at these insane prices for SAB.It's 2.87% of my pile at the moment, what you at?Games
