iPhone8 and Renishaw? Rumours that Apple will be using Renishaw's stuff in its next thingie are apparently responsible for today's 5% upward spike. "earnings per share upgrades of between 10% and 30% are possible for Renishaw"[link] I held on in here.
Re: There goes £32 My feeling is that this is a well-run company, in favourable economic conditions, and a strong history of successful product innovation. Plus, possibly some years down the line, the takeover prospects. You could justify a forward P/E of 35.I am loaded up to the gunwhales with this one, so no further purchases. But definitely holding.
There goes £32 Sorry - Couldn't resist it.Currently trading on 28x forecast earnings for the year to July 17.Looks expensive if the forecasts are right. All depends upon whether you think the devalued sterling will make Renishaw products more competitive as well as bring in higher margins. That's leaving aside the possibility that they bring out a blockbuster product or get a hostile approach. It's a hold for me. If the price goes down I get to buy more and if the price keeps going up I'm even happier. cheers
Re: There goes £26 current rising price on very low volume makes the share look expensive and very vulnerable to a market correction
Re: There goes £26 QF,How do you think I feel, m8? Here's what I posted in June after the referendum last year:"I've done my bit to enable you to get in today, m8 .... sold my entire holding, lock stock and two smoking barrels at 2060p this morning. My view that this is a fine company has not changed one iota, but, following our national collective brainfart on Thursday night I got frit with having 20%+ of my entire shrunken wad dependent on RSW's widgets, so I decided to generate a lump of cash por si acaso."I shudder to think how much potential profit I lost by selling out!LKH on the flybridge ah well, never mind
Re: There goes £26 picsloup, looks like you were right to hold on for £30! Very much regretting selking at £25!QF
Re: There goes £31 Big surge was due to my sell!
Re: There goes £31 Took 5 months to go from £29 to £30, and 2 weeks to go up to £31
Re: Rapid price gain I agree that the recent price moves could indicate something is afoot. There were some quite big trades (big for Renishaw anyway) last week. It could be that the founders are thinking of selling out, as you speculate. Another possibility is that the new AM machine is getting good traction in the market (where it is still in test mode with selected customers) and that those customers have twigged the positive implications for the top and bottom lines. Their buying could be pushing the price up. Just a thought.
Rapid price gain shot up in a matter of weeks.Perhaps there is more to this than meets the eye?Games -- a bid perhaps -- if the old boys would sell.
Re: There goes £30 Decided to cash in half my holding for a nice 86% profit at 3025p - this does seem a bit toppy and now on quite a demanding PE.
Re: There goes £30 Taken it a while to nudge over £30. Presumably a lot of algorithms programmed to take profits. Happy to hold for more.
Re: Thinking of taking profits OK guys im out this was a great buy - thanks for the tip!! I put all the proceeds in an investment trust Temple Bar (in case you are interested - probably not). This will do well IMHO - it is quality, I'm a believer but it has done a bit too well and IMHO might languish for a year or so. I'm probably wrong but would rather find another potential 50%. Anyway so long and thanks for all the fish. Cheers IP.
Re: Thinking of taking profits Thanks for your insight - I'm also reducing risk in my portfolio - so I'm selling individual shares for ITs. There are some nice cyclical plays which have a discount of 6-15% that I'm currently considering.
Re: Thinking of taking profits I had been thinking of top slicing at £30 or so but the thought of the 25% rise in EPS makes me think I'm better of sticking in here for a bit, especially as I can't think of anywhere better to put the proceeds (topped up on UU and National Grid recently, and put a modest punt onto Sirius)
