NEW ARTICLE: Randgold divi soars despite gold slump "A collapse in the gold price to a four-year low in November caused a slump in fourth-quarter profit at gold miner LSE:RRS:Randgold Resources. But impressive cashflow means that the final dividend leaps by 20% and the share price remains not far ..."[link]
Re: sustained rise............. We've had very upbeat RNS issued for all three of RRS existing mines. RRS has a pretty good operational track record. There should be some significant energy cost savings feeding through for 2015 as well as from the other intiatives which have been announced in the RNS.I would be expecting when end year results, good figures and promising outlook for 2015. RRS is outperforming most it's rivals in terms of share price movement. Price of gold is king of course.
Re: sustained rise............. I notice that the chart shows a very recent golden cross as the 50 day moving average climbed above the 200 day MA both rising. In the meantime the RSI has dipped down to 70 so not quite as oversold as it has been in recent days. RRS is on a rising trend compared with gold price and HUI. Preliminary results in a month which should be good. Strong dollar and reducing energy costs in RRS favour. They may have missed the boat on acquisitions however.
sustained rise............. wheres the ceiling this time, yet to break evenwill jump soon me thinksjester
Re: Gone back in too early Hello tt,Well done on your recent trades.I sold 15 percent of my holding today at about £55.5.Both gold and RRS seem to be on a bit of a break out. RRS has a very high 14day RSI so I do expect a fall back. However the low price of oil will maybe cause more political uncertainty and the Greek election might ask more questions than answers, so I think maybe we will see continuing moves upwards for both as time goes by, after a bit of a set back. I'm surprised we,ve not seen more consolidation in the gold mining sector.
Re: Gone back in too early Well on this one it was certainly the case and of course it rode on another gold miner I chose instead. That said none could beat the 25% up tick seen here. Got the 4040 to 4400 peaks twice.
Re: Gone back in too early You may have got out too soon!Sm
