Re: Dividend Hargreaves Lansdown converted mine to cash on the 5th. It is odd how brokers differ so much. I assume H/L know they will get the money so they convert customers holdings first and sort it out later. Other brokers wait for RR to actually give them the cash and the "cheque" clears. I have heard III do this so dividends arrive a lot later. Maybe this sort of hold up is similar to the one you are experiencing.
Dividend Any idea how long it takes for RR to convert the convertible shares into cash? Div date was supposedly 5 July. I see 71,000 C shares, with value of nil in by nominee account, but no cash. I did elect to take as cash.Trying to work out if problem is with RR, registrar or my nominee account (TD, now owned by Ii)

Jefferies From Citywire (6th July):"Jefferies sees sunny uplands at Rolls-RoyceJefferies is predicting glimmers of sunny uplands for Rolls-Royce (RR), as growth at the engine manufacturer gains momentum.Analyst Sandy Morris retained his buy recommendation and increased the target price from 900p to £11.00 on the stock, which was trading up 1%, or 9p, at 908.5p at the time of writing. Our sunny uplands for free cashflow are still arguably three to four years off, but we believe within 12 months it will be evident they do exist, he said. We feel the evidence in Rolls-Royces favour has growth the good start to full year 2017, the growth anticipated in US dollar net revenue, the path of the dollar-sterling hedge book. These lend weight to our model. He was also encouraged to hear that the company is planning to ramp up engine deliveries. "
Re: Engine Failure? An Airbus airworthiness directive issued in 2011 and updated in 2014 noted that some operators had found acoustic panelling in the cowling area was disbonding. It was a problem that they knew about and airlines had been warned and had been required to inspect their engines and if necessary replace the panels, he added.Whoever is looking after the maintenance of the engines, whether it is the airline or the engine maker, its their responsibility.
Re: Engine Failure? I you look at the pictures you will see that the top edge of the lost piece is dead straight and the same for a short distance. After that, the metal is torn. That indicates to me that the fastenings at the top gave way and the force of the air ripped the panel away. It may be a design failure but more likely a maintenance issue. Either way, an east fix and shouldn't affect the share price long term. I am overweight on RR otherwise I would be buying on this weakness.
Engine Failure? This kind of incident normally causes a brief sell-off. Possibly get ahead of it then re-buy? It may not be possible if opens down.A China Eastern flight bound for Shanghai was forced to turn back to Sydney due to a mid-air emergency, a spokeswoman for the airline said on Monday, with pictures showing a gaping hole in the casing of one of the plane's engines. The plane, which data from flight tracking website FlightAware showed was an Airbus A330-200 twin jet, landed without incident and there were no injuries, said Kathy Zhang, a general manager at China Eastern Airlines."The crew observed the abnormal situation of the left engine and decided to return to Sydney airport immediately. All passengers and crew members were landed safely," she said.Photographs published by several Australian media outlets showed a large gash well over a meter long in the casing of the plane's left engine.A spokeswoman for Rolls-Royce, which manufactured the plane's Trent 700 series engines, said in a statement: "We are aware of the incident and will be working closely with our customer and relevant partners to understand the cause of the issue."Professor Jason Middleton, an aviation expert at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, said it appeared that the engine cowling had been ripped away forward of the main compressor blade."When one of these things happens you often don't know how the damage began. It could have begun from loose screws," he told Australian Broadcasting Corp. News. The Australia Transport Safety Bureau said it was investigating the incident.China Eastern's Zhang said a comprehensive investigation would involve aviation authorities from Australia and China."The engine for the aircraft is a big issue so we need to investigate with the governments, with the Rolls Royce company and with our headquarters as well," she said.
