Jefferies warns of downside risks Jefferies warns of downside risks at Royal MailJefferies believes there remains downside risk to negotiations over pay and pensions at Royal Mail (RMG) as workers yesterday voted in favour of holding a strike. The Communication Workers Union said the ballot among 110,00 staff backed strikes by 89% on a turnout of 73%.Analyst David Kerstens retained his underperform recommendation and target price of 320p on the shares, which edged a penny higher to 384.2p yesterday. He said Royal Mail shares were trading at a 15% discount to the European postal sector but thinks there remains downside risk in the labour negotiations about pay and pensions.[link]
Re: Strike Well, its certainly strengthens the union's hand a lot in negotiations - both sides have to live with any outcome. As workers become pensioners ya'd think maybe they'd want a solvent and thriving RMG.
Re: good to see a bounce Tomorrow will be scary. Unions have put paid to £4 anytime soon. Sub £3 coming I reckon. They should scrap the divvi to pay the pensions deficit.
Strike Looks like it's on with a pretty big majority voting in favour.[link] be quite damaging if it goes ahead, and expensive if it doesn't.[link] like the float price is a possibiity again.Games
Re: Labour How many posties do we think still hold their shares? How happy will the puppets be with their masters if they still hold? I assume most still hold them - the five years isn't up until the end of next year or thereabouts As an aside I see they had a 89.1% vote in favour of action with roundabout 73% turnout so a big mandate for the CWU
Re: Boo Jeremy Corbyn I doubt whether Jeremy Corbyn will recieve much in the way of Christmas cheer through his letter box this year......How to win friends and influence your local postie!Kind regardsTJ

Re: Labour Look on the bright side, we will not get paid in devalued sterling but will likely get lots of nice, shiny bonds for our shares, unless we are domiciled offshore, in which case we will likely get fewer shiny bonds and will instead need to sit on the naughty step and repent the error of our ways. Or, if they don't want to cause issues with government solvency, pay each shareholder in postage stamps which have to be used within 7 days of purchase and then extend to railways bought with free rail tickets with 7 day use, etc, etc.But do not worry, in the brave new world we are all going to be kind to one another and look out for each other because we know what will happen to us if we are not good.........
Re: Labour Games,"Want to take it back into public hands."Presumably so that they can appease Len McKlutzky and put every Posty on £100k a year!LKH on the flybridge
Labour Want to take it back into public hands.Stated clearly at the party conference by J Mcdonnell - but British Rail was first on the list.I guess these guys are now serious about this, and the mess that Teresa May has now created all but ensures a Labour victory at the next election -- it might be sooner than we think as May is hxll bent on frustrating Brexit in facour of handing a load of cash and laws back to the EU.The two pronged tongue May is effectively side stepping the democratic vote as I suspect many thought she would do as a remainer.Games -- Unfortunately the EU and Democracy don't sit well together - or at all really.
Re: 330 float price 26-06-2017.Sold my recent buy @ 390. I did not realize there was industrial action ( Thank you gamesinvestor ) ( taking it you did not find article 08-09-17 ) I do not want to hold this share with this going on.R
good to see a bounce good to see a bounce yesterday, lets hope we get back over £4.00 and then around £4.50ish in early spring..................
Re: 320 Management and Union miles apart on a host of issues, prolonged strike over their most profitable period inevitable. Chronic parcel under performance allied to tipping point arriving in decline in letters. Morale at rock bottom linked to epidemic sickness levels. Lousy management, their strategy of a two tier workforce has backfired. The dividend is a very poor reason to hold RMG.
