Bring back the old discussion format now! johnnie-fp: As I said before, the previous incarnation was perfect for financial chat, you could dip in and out and be up to speed in no time at all. Totally agree. johnnie-fp: This software is nowhere near as intuitive for what I/we want. Totally agree. johnnie-fp: I’ve even created an account and started lurking over on LSE.co.uk - it’s not as good an old ii but better than this. Totally agree, and well done. See you over there.
Bring back the old discussion format now! AlBrad: Just your opinion and not backed up by facts. Oh yes, purely conjecture but based on experience, a technical lead is often part of the management team too. I’ve known managing directors pick software over the technical team advise because they used it elsewhere and liked it. Bring back the old discussion format now! I have opened accounts at both ADVFN and LSE which provides a broad prospective of what’s going on with RKH and the other FI oilies. Some informative posts on ADVFN recently. I also opened an account with the London Stock Exchange (not to be mistaken with London South East (LSE) mentioned above as this provides a live breakdown of my share portfolio instantly. These 3 sites provide all the information previously available on III but I think we can wave good bye to the good old days (RIP) as it’s obvious they will not resurrect the site - pity really as I enjoyed the banter and informative posts from 2009 and the DES days.

A simple solution Yes, it’s feasible… but they can’t. It’s not their software, they pay to use a third party forum called Discourse. Unless Discourse add the functionality it will not be happening. Old forum though not the prettiest pretty decent for financial discussion. I loved it, all it needed was the ability to edit a post and it was pretty much there. Shame.
A simple solution A community is about people. Posters on oil knew each other by name. By changing our names into non descript icons, they made our community faceless. The solution is simple. On the main page with threads: Change the icons back into our posting names. Don’t show the silly tags and categories (We know we are on the Rockhopper BB and it is indeed a market discussion) Use the generated space to show more lean and mean threads with their poster names and the poster names of the people who replied to the thread. Alternatively use the abbreviations, like RKH in the tag. Or show the poster names when you click on the time, so we can jump to the reply of a poster. And when we click on a thread show the last post first. It is all very feasible.
Bring back the old discussion format now! As per yourself, now setting up my portfolio on ADVFN. Still visiting II in the doubtful event that things improve, but, a busted flush I think.
Bring back the old discussion format now! johnnie-fp: As a web developer I can confidently say the decisions come solely from management. Did management choose the Discourse package? You are wrong to place all the blame with management - they often take direction from the technical lead. Just look on the Beta Community site and you can see who is driving this development - his name begins with a H. johnnie-fp: The forums in management eyes make zero income and therefore complaints fall on deaf ears. The development team there I’m sure are actually trying to make bad decisions work. Just your opinion and not backed up by facts.
Bring back the old discussion format now! optomus: I want to stay, but just don’t enjoy the new format. I have only seen 3 users commenting here that they like the new format. A resounding success!!
