Buying Ripley94: Maybe all for luck but three dealing fees ??? You have to be careful with AIM buys that ‘disappear’ - especially around auction time when the market suspends for a short while - I think there is one at 10am, 120 and 2pm. I’ve been caught out myself before thinking a limit order had disappeared (maybe expired), bought live then the limit order has come through execution and I’ve ended up with 2 buys at about the same price. Frustrating. Hope it works out for you though - errors sometimes do!

Buying Ripley94: Why bother with A I M this just happenes over and over. Fair point … but there are sometimes big profits to be had too … You really have to know the company and the management - and it looks like RBW are going to keep going back for more cash to open up their huge claim which is supposed to be done by mostly manual labour keeping costs very cheap. As soon you decide you need a digger or rock truck, you don’t get many of those for a million quid, which is a major capital outlay for RBW. Just transporting them to the claim from (probably S. Africa) is probably pretty expensive on top of the price of the machine.

LYC.AX Lynas Corp (rare earths) Rare-Earths Giant to Prioritise U.S. Military’s Needs, CEO Says ,Bloomberg•June 7, 2019 The world’s largest rare-earth producer outside of China will prioritise the U.S. military’s needs when it starts production at a plant it’s building in Texas, the company’s chief executive officer said. While defence applications are small compared to commercial uses, the military has been successful in creating “viable supply chains” across the industry and that makes it a high priority, Lynas Corp.’s Amanda Lacaze said in an interview in Chicago Thursday. Rare earths – a group of 17 vital elements used in missile systems, electric-vehicle, computer screens and other tech devices – have been thrown into the limelight after China signalled it may restrict shipments to the U.S. Lynas has been talks with the U.S. Department of Defence and the Defence Logistics Agency “pretty much for as long as I’ve been in the job and I’m thinking before that as well,” she said. Negotiations for supply to the DoD and the DLA gave Lynas the confidence to enter into a joint venture with Blue Line Corp. to build in Texas the only separation plant for heavy rare earths outside of China, she said. The U.S. stressed the urgency to ensure it doesn’t get cut off from supply, with Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross promising on Tuesday “unprecedented action” to secure the nation’s access to the raw material. The country relies on China for 80% of its imports, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Defence contractors account for just 1% of the U.S. rare earth demand, or about 0.09% of global consumption, Raymond James analysts including Pavel Molchanov, said in a note Monday. China produced about 71% of the world’s output last year, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Lynas’ plant in Texas will have the capacity to produce at least 1,200 tons of so-called SEG oxide, a group of heavy rare earth elements, Lacaze said. (N.B. This 3rd plant for LYC outside of China isn’t expected to be producing for years yet).

LYS.AX Lynas Corp (rare earths) Lynas touts independence from China in pitch for rare earths customers, especially US military users. Jun. 6, 2019 By: Carl Surran, Edited by Eadwig With China threatening to curb exports of rare earth minerals, Lynas is billing itself as the best option for customers to tap diversified supplies of the materials. “We are truly independent from China,” Lynas CEO Amanda Lacaze told the Argus U.S. Specialty Metals conference in Chicago today. “There will be significant growth [in rare earths] outside China so long as customers are confident in supply.” Lacaze also described the planned processing facility in Texas with privately-held Blue Line Corp. as a key for Lynas to fill a “gap” in the U.S. rare earths market. China contains at least 85% of the world’s capacity to process rare earth ores into material that manufacturers can use, with Lynas holding 11% (of the rest of the global rare earths processing capacity, presumably) says research firm Adamas Intelligence.

LYS.AX Lynas Corp (rare earths) Rare Earths price reaction back in 2011 when China decided to withhold production from export for use by its own companies. The WTO eventually ruled this out in 2014, although China had gone along with allowing supply out the country by then. In the new trade war with USA they may simply black list certain US companies (or anyone else trying to supply those companies) that currently need rare earths in their manufacturing processes.

LYS.AX Lynas Corp (rare earths) Well, I really thought this was going to take off like a rocket on the USA / China trade war once rare earths were ‘put on the table’ by the Chinese. LYS is the only company outside of China that both mines and process rare earths outside China Part of the fast rise below (15% in one day) was on good news from its single existing processing plant in Malaysia which is under some pressure about waste disposal. I figured there was much more to come as rare earth prices were set to saw and RBW.LSE a much smaller concern had rocketed by over 200% whereas LYS had one risen 50% inc. the processing plant good news. image.png1650x851 86.9 KB Unfortunately I bought a tranche just as it began to fall from its peak, then a second to average down to about AUS$@296. It kept falling and I had to release [email protected] for around an 8% loss. RBW.LSE has also fallen back but then risen again whereas LYS has remained far less volatile, even though they are out and about touting for support (see next posts) and seem like an obvious play on the USA/China trade fall out. I can’t quite figure out what is holding them back. Their P/E of >90? 2011 shows us that rare earth prices will more than justify that multiple if China decides to use rare eaths supply as leverage in the talks.

Buying Ripley94: Did you trade it Eadwig ? I did, but only from @5p (friday) selling @7.1p and @7.9p (Monday) just over one trading day. If I could do that every day I wouldn’t be bothering to trade anymore this time next year! I was out all day when it hit @5p the second time so didn’t get the chance to have another go. Watching closely though.
