Question Does anyone actually know how old David Wright is?

Re: I'm not impressed I hadn't realised that the acquisition company shareholders would be cashing in. It's a similar case with Matchtec and the sp will not recover until the overhang of sellers ends. It's worth hanging on to the shares here for a while longer. Hopefully PTCM will report good trading figures in due course which will underpin the sp.When companies moot incentive schemes as the one proposed here, they should also be made to propose another one stating that if the sp drops below say 4p, then a certain percentage of shares are forfeited by the proposers. That might make them think twice and concentrate their minds.Having said all that, the management here have a lot of skin in the game so I intend to ignore short term losses in the expectation of a recovery.Casa.

Re: I'm not impressed Deals are done in equity terms at 10p so those selling to Porta might feel aggrieved and somewhat reluctant to sell at 5+p even if they can. Its devalues their sale price by almost 50%. Most will sell when the Board does what it is paid to do and build value. But as we know they are obsessed with bonus schemes to enrich themselves. The Daily Mail said in January of last year the shares "true" value was 21p. Sadly some of these much vaunted acquisitions were not what they seemed! 21p now seems pie in the sky.

Re: I'm not impressed There has been a lot of equity issued in the acquisition of businesses and many of the recipriants are becoming able to realise cash, and for that reason I expect to see the sp held back for some time

Re: I'm not impressed I might add I don't think anyone should sell at this level - there's actually an argument to buy - and I see some opportunistic buying going on now. I don't see the company failing, and it does have the scope to really soar if it just gets rid of some of the dead wood which is making it unpopular in the City for now.

Re: I'm not impressed Porta was once a share that attracted a lot of clever money - but it has been heading resolutely south since the day it acquired PPS. I still believe the business as a whole is fundamentally sound, but it appears to have far too many highly paid chiefs - some of them pretty ancient - and really it is a matter now of ditching some of them and getting behind a new dynamic leader with a vision that the City can buy.

I'm not impressed While the management concern themselves with an enriching incentive scheme, the share price plummets. Maybe they should be more concerned with maintaining shareholder value than a proposal that looks like pie in the sky. The sp is down over 10% today and that is in addition to a poor overall performance since the start of 2016. Hence the title, I'm not impressed.Casa.

oink oink From the Standard last night. Amateur tactics Porta - the job of the Board is to build the share price!Porta PR banks on hiding behind BudgetThere’s nothing like Budget Day to bury news of a corporate trousering, as the PR folk at Porta Communications know full well. The listed firm — owner of spinners Newgate and Redleaf among others — chose this quiet day to slip out news of its new share incentive scheme for chief executive David Wright, managing director Steffan Williams and finance director Gene Golembiewski. Shares in Porta are at present worth 6.38p but the big bucks kick in above 13p. The trio will land £1.36 million in shares collectively if they can get the price to 16.3p — which happens to be where it was two years ago before it collapsed by 60%.

Re: Good Appointment I see this second senior hire as a tacit admission that David Wright isn't really delivering as chairman.Wright is getting on a bit now and needs to consider his position carefully: the company is starting to look very top heavy now.

Toad1957 02 Mar 2016

Good Appointment [link] appointment. Porta need to become more than the sum of their parts, they do have some very good businesses but they have so far failed to demonstrate any real synergy. Gavin is a shrewd addition and he will work well with the CEO Steffan. With time passing the share price will reflect their progress. At 6p its on its knees. Upwards and onwards please.

Re: Undervalued I agree, Mack. This will leave today's price well behind as the year progresses. Good luck.

mackackoo 03 Feb 2016

Undervalued The latest news makes this looks very undervalued.

future Porta has lately recruited some sensible people, but some of David Wright's acquisitions have gone down like bags of cold sick with the market. My feeling is he is simply too old now and is a drag on the company. As things stand, it is probably worth holding/buying at this level as a potential consolidation play. Anyone any views?
