Re: Closed above 400 I don't think it is ever a good idea to compare the dividend with original purchase price rather than the current price to work out the yield you are getting. That said, I am not planning to sell and take my profit yet
Re: Closed above 400 To be pedantic it's actually the 3rd time it's closed above 400, but I take the point - it's up a bit, down a bit, but steadily slowly, on the climb; and I see no reason to sell. healthy business with 88% earnings outside the UK - good growth prospects, excellent record of growth, rising dividend. I know the yield does not sound that great, but with double digit increases each year, it soon improves. My initial investment is now earning me 5.5%.
Closed above 400 Closed above 400 for the first time on Friday -lets hope it can maintain that level. SP performance has been very good this year, unlike last when it held my portfolio returns back.
Re: Volume The Norwegians purchased some more last Friday ( RNS today) and their holding is now just over 10%. Encouraging I think !
Q3 This morning's trading update is reassuring: everything still going in the right direction - sales up 8%, healthy order book, nice cash balance' profits in line with the BoD's expectations. Forex working in their favour, though unlikely to see any significant effect in this year's figures.
Re: Volume So it seems to be VIND LV AS who have made a large purchase. As far as I can see they are a Norwegian Fund Manager. (apart from Thank You, Exit, Beer & Sauna my command of Scandinavian lings is very limited.)
Re: Volume Latest RNS is Vind LV buying 1mill taking their holding to 6.1%. So same Norwegian lot that bought earlier in the year.
Re: Volume The seller or sellers could have had a notifiable holding as well - so possibly more than one announcement due.
Re: Volume I'm not going to look up the exact rules, but it seems to me that 3% is common practice, but I think 5% is mandatory. The buyer could have existing shares so I would hope it triggers an RNS
Re: Volume I have been back to the financials 1.27m shares are just less than 3% - I cant recall whether this is the level at which a purchaser has to make their identity known, but it's something like that.
Re: Volume The two trades are probably just one, they add up to exactly 1,272,000 and went through at the same time and price, but you are right very interesting, and no impact on the SP.
Volume Huge volume today - 2 trades over a million - look like purchases as they went through at 395+.But no effect on the share price. I expect an RNS of Holdings in the company soon to explain.
Quarterly Update Last year they released a quarterly update on 15th September. Does anyone know if they are going to release an update soon?
Closing on £4 When I bought these 6.5 years ago for 63p; I never dreamed we'd be closing in on £4. Just done the sums & it's equivalent to a compound gain of 33% p.a. - excluding dividends of course. A dividend of 3.5p is not great on a share price of £4; but it's 5.5% on my initial investment. I may have to reduce my holdings soon as it's getting too big a part of my portfolio.
Interims In amongst all this financial turmoil, Porvair released their interim results; and as always they show excellent steady progress -Sales up 13%.EPS up 9%Dividend up 8%Net cash of £7.2m
