Sells It doesn't take much selling to move the price down, and then everyone piles in. 60,000 shares changed hands, mostly sells, probably as a result of oil price falls from Monday to Wednesday (which have now started to reverse).I think it's just a reflection of the incredibly thin market in these shares ie a very illiquid stock. One modest seller and down it goes.I'm holding. Earnings expectations haven't changed. These smaller companies are quite volatile. I've seen the same thing with CNKS, which is bigger.
Re: Big Fall Today I'd guess someone in the same industry has just had awful results with a poor outlook.Jim
Re: Big Fall Today I sold just to take some profits and will go back in if they carry on dropping.
Big Fall Today Any idea what is causing the big drop today?
Re: To hold or not to hold....... I'm up a similar amount since I followed your lead, but I have a small weighting due to previous bad experiences with AIM. Going to let it ride for now. If 30 EPS is a conservative view then 300p is very reasonable considering the recover potential in the medium term. If only your Cenkos tip was also doing as well! Still I'm taking the long view there, the dividend reinvestment will get me more units at the current price
To hold or not to hold....... Just got back from a short break, during which I noted the terrific rise in price; just over 40% for me.It all seems to be based on brokers forecasting a big bounce back in EPS. They are forecasting EPS of 45p next year. I'd be much more conservative. I'd be OK with 30p, this year and next.So then my question is whether £3.05 is a fair price for 30p of EPS. Also DPS is around 9p, giving a lowish yield of around 3.4%.To me, these have moved from a Buy to a Hold. They are not yet a Sell. For now I'm holding.
Re: First purchase Well Greyinvestor, you said it was a long term buy, but are you tempted to take some profits?
Re: Why the big rise today Biogas in the news 11 May might be the reason[link]
Re: Why the big rise today My guess is just the steady price rise in oil. I rate this company highly even after costing me quite a large loss. I only have a smallish holding now. Waiting to see the next trading update before I buy more or a few large director buy may tempt me. For me a cautious hold
Why the big rise today Let me know if anybody has any explanation. Thx.
From Northbridge (NBI) results announcement today "Capital investment in the oil and gas industry as a whole has seen a noticeable reduction in almost all areas of operation and recent M & A activity amongst the majors will lead to further consolidation in a sector which includes many of our key customers. Underlying demand for our goods and service will take some time to stabilise and, as current contracts unwind, replacement contracts are likely to be harder to secure."
Re: First purchase I have seen the results published by Cenkos and, indeed they are outstanding. Unfortunately I didn't have it on my watch list so is new to me. The dividend rate is outstanding even after the sp rise. I loathe to buy a stock just after a big rise in price. I bought PRES at 240 and it immediately rose to 290 but then fell to about your buying in price, withing the last month, so it's quite volatile. Casa.
Re: First purchase Hi Casa. I had a quick look at WG. Decent enough but balance sheet a bit weak and yield a bit low. I had some fun with CNKS this week.....
Re: First purchase Welcome, Greyinvestor. For the long term, I think you have grabbed a bargain at 216. I have also been looking at Wood Group. This sector, as you say, is likely to be depressed for a while but WG is a quality company and has been too expensive in the past. One macro threat that I read in today's paper, is the agreement with Iran over the production of nuclear energy. If that is completed, Iran will be able to export more oil. Casa.
First purchase Made a modest first purchase of these today @ £2.16.A risky long term buy for me.Very volatile EPSDPS quite stableBalance sheet lumpy growthCash flow weakeningLikely further profits warning and write offs, both tangible and intangibleBut....brokers forecast much reduced EPS of 31p. In my view they could easily fall to 20p. However at this level the divi would be OK, as would the P/E. So I've based my purchase on modestly good value at a 20p EPS. A gentle buy for me.
